Palooka is a washed up Hong Kong boxer who failed to find success when his opponents began cybernetically augmenting themselves. Now he works as muscle for Shadowrunners, in hopes of honing his skills to one day return to his former glory.

===Goals===
Palooka's main goal is to support himself and his foster father, Jiang Li. Secretly however he yearns to improve his boxing on the street so that one day he can return to Hong Kong and dominate the fight clubs, proving that hard work can triumph over any amount of augmentation.

==Background==
Charlie Welles, now known as Palooka, is a 32 year old son of USAC immigrants living in Hong Kong. He was orphaned at a young age when his parents died in a car crash, and spent most of his life under the care of a local dockworker named Jiang Li. Growing up Palooka developed a love for boxing, and spent many years training to become a prize boxer at the local fight clubs. He saw some success in his teenage years, and even became known around town as "The Human Punching Bag" for his ability to take a massive amount of punishment in the ring. But as he got older, Palooka began to struggle against the local competition, who would often augment themselves with cybernetics to keep in top form. Being a purist of the sport and rather afraid of augmentation, Palooka refused to turn to technology to keep up with Hong Kong's boxing elite, and faded into obscurity. In need of money to support himself and his aging surrogate father, Palooka turned to the world of Shadowrunning to survive and hopefully hone his skills so that one day he can return to the ring.

-Street Fighter: Given his time growing up in Hong Kong, Palooka has become well acquainted with the city's local fight clubs.

-Tough Love: Despite his abrasive personality, Palooka cares about the people around him and wants to see them succeed in whatever goals they may have.

===Negative===
- Gremlins: For whatever reason, Palooka is absolutely terrible when it comes to understanding modern technology. Be it Virtual Reality or even just driving a car, whenever he operates machinery everything seems to go up in smoke in the end. As a result, Palooka has become distrustful of most tech, going as far as refusing to augment his body in any way.

-Pummeled: Having taken one too many blows to the head, Palooka's face is about as attractive as a shaved gorilla.

-Illiterate: While he knows how to speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English fairly well, Palooka only knows how to read and write in English.
