After the homicide of a Wuxing asset and following the disruption of a Wuxing-Renraku co-sponsored tournament, Meng has been sent to Seattle to help Yao Wu track and kill the offending party. All the while furthering corporate interests by serving as a fixer and Johnson for Seattle shadowrunners. Will provide service as a fixer for runners in exchange for useful information for her purpose or Wuxing's corporate interests. AN ADEPT BORN TO TWO WUXING RESEARCHERS, YAO WU(TIESHANKAO) WAS MORE OR LESS TAKEN BY WUXING ITSELF TO BE USED AS A CORPORATE MASCOT FOR A TRADITIONALIST-THEMED PATRIOTIC APPEARANCE FOR THE COMPANY. THE INTENT WAS TO INSPIRE AND IMPRESS WUXING CUSTOMERS AND BUILD BRAND LOYALTY ON THE BACK OF CHINESE HISTORY. YAO, HOWEVER, WAS A NATURALLY REBELIOUS AND IMPUDENT YOUNG MAN. IMMERSING HIMSELF IN HIS CHINESE HERITAGE WAS ONE OF THE LAST THINGS ON HIS MIND. NOT IDEAL WHEN HIS BENEFACTORS ARE RIDING ON HIM TO DO EXACTLY THAT. HIS ONE SAVING GRACE TO KEEP HIM IN FAVOR WITH WUXING, HOWEVER, WAS HIS SERENDIPITOUS LOVE FOR MARTIAL ARTS. IT WAS THE ONE GENUINE PASSION IN THE WORLD HE HAD AND HE EXERTED HIMSELF TO PURSUE CHINESE KUNG FU. WUXING MIGHT NOT'VE HAD THE PERFECT POSTERBOY FOR THEIR PATRIOTIC IDENTITY, BUT YAO HAD THE TALENT AS A MARTIAL ARTIST TO PASS OFF AS ONE. IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF PRESENTATION. WUXING DOLLED HIM UP IN THE TRADITIONAL STYLINGS OF A QING DYNASTY OFFICIAL AND USED ALL THE LEVERAGE NECESSARY TO SCORE YAO A MASTER OF BAJIQUAN, XIAO MIN, THAT WOULD DEDICATE HERSELF TO HIS TRAINING. HE TRAINED UNCHARACTERISTICALLY DUTIFULLY UNDER HER TUTELAGE AND ROSE TO BE AS DESIGNED. HE WAS THE CAPTAIN CRUNCH OF BAJIQUAN, MUCH TO HIS CHAGRIN. IT WAS GREAT FOR HIS REPUTATION WITHIN WUXING AND AFFORDED HIM MANY LUXURIES, BUT TARNISHED HIS IMAGE IN THE MARTIAL ARTS WORLD. THAT WAS THE ONE HE CARED ABOUT. HOWEVER, HE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO BEGRUDGINGLY ACCEPT HIS LOT IN LIFE PARADING AROUND THE MARTIAL ARTS WORLD AS PROOF OF GREATNESS FOR KUNG FU AND WUXING, AT LEAST UNTIL THE DAY THE SPLIT KNUCKLE TOURNAMENT. IT WAS AN EVENT GATHERING THE PAN PACIFIC'S GREATEST FIGHTERS AND GATHERING THEM TO SEE WHO IS THE STRONGEST, IT OFFERED THE PERFECT PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR BOTH WUXING AND YAO. EXPOSURE AND BRAGGING RIGHTS FURTHER WUXING'S GOAL OF ESTABLISHING A PATRIOTIC IMAGE FOR CUSTOMERS TO IDENTIFY WITH. AND A CHANCE FOR YAO TO ESTABLISH HIMSELF TO EVERYONE WHO MATTERS IN THE PAN PACIFIC MARTIAL ARTS WORLD THAT HE IS NOT JUST A DOLLED-UP CARICATURE FOR A COMPANY.

UNFORTUNATELY YAO WOULD NEVER GET THE CHANCE TO SEIZE SUCH AN OPPORTUNITY. IN THE SEMIFINAL BRACKET YAO WAS UP AGAINST AKANE, A BRILLIANT KARATEKA FROM OKINAWA. BEFORE THE MATCH BEGAN IT WAS OVER. CANCELED DUE TO A DOUBLE HOMICIDE IN THE PRIVATE VIEWING ROOM OF BOTH OF THEIR RESPECTIVE MASTERS. WITH XIAO MIN'S DEATH, YAO AND WUXING ONCE AGAIN FOUND THEIR INTERESTS ALIGNING. BOTH WANT THE MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR HER DEATH TO BE DESTROYED. WUXING HAS OFFICIALLY TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED YAO SO THAT HE MAY HAVE TIME TO GRIEVE. IN REALITY, THEY HAVE SET HIM UP AS A SHADOW RUNNER TO SCOUR THE CRIMINAL UNDERWORLD FOR THE FREAK RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF A WUXING ASSET. YAO SOUGHT OUT AKANE TO JOIN HIM, OFFERING HER THE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN HIM AND AVENGE HER OWN MASTER'S DEATH AS WELL. YAO WAS ALMOST UNSURPRISED TO SEE AS SHE STEPPED ASIDE TO REVEAL HER TRAVEL BAGS, ALREADY PACKED. THEY TRAVELED TOGETHER ALL THROUGHOUT THE PAN PACIFIC FOR A YEAR GATHERING INFO AND ULTIMATELY LEARNING THAT THE MAN THEY WERE LOOKING FOR WAS IN SEATTLE.
