==Summary==
BioGen hires runners to clear out the squatters in their new Seattle location. Through proper legwork and a strong combat presence, they break the gang using the building to peddle drugs and--in doing so non-lethally--earn the respect of the group they evicted.

==Background==
[[BioGen]] purchased a warehouse from AnthroCustoms. Questions arose about the signatories after one of the co-owners was put into a coma, so closing on the property was massively delayed. As a natural consequence of this delay, the building was stripped of any valuables and--after closing--BioGen was forced to deal with the squatters who had taken up residence there. To keep their hands clean, runners were hired.

==The Meet==
[[Arun]], [[Koi]], [[Nitro]], [[Okami]], and [[Beuford "Saint' Mcgill|Saint]] meet the Johnson at a hidden office in an old apartment building in Auburn. Ms. Johnson confirms that the infestation is likely gangers and druggies, hence hiring runners as a go between.She originally offers 15,000 NuYen as payment, but [[Koi]]'s bargaining earns another ten percent bump per person. She provides credsticks and building blueprints to the team, and will inform the police that [[BioGen]] plans to do some light demolition, providing some cover for police activation in the area. The team departs for a local Stuffer Shack to formulate a plan.

==The Plan==
The team decides to scout the building with spirits as they formulate an incursion plan. However, summoning the spirit goes sideways, (see news story,) and the team is forced to depart their planning stage early. Instead, drones were used to infiltrate the building, which yielded a headcount, found defensive measures (turret drones), and allowed the team to plan for a three-pronged incursion into the building. Mages would enter through the front door, while the rest of the team would enter through the rear.

==The Run==
First, the team planted explosives on the defensive drones utilizing their own drone network. Then, [[Okami]] entered through the front door, thanks to some helpful reminders from her teammates about what the passphrase would be (F* Halloweeners.) [[Beuford "Saint' Mcgill|Saint]] followed her, invisibly.

Activating the explosives on the defensive drones was the go signal. [[Nitro]] and [[Arun]] entered through one set of back doors, and [[Koi]] through the other rear door. [[Okami]] took over the mind of one defender while [[Arun]], [[Nitro]], and [[Koi]] fired at active defenders. [[Beuford "Saint' Mcgill|Saint]] attempted to knock out the guard at the front door, but instead knocking himself out cold thanks to drain.

One guard was taken out with stick and shock, another was floored by an armor-piercing round, slowly bleeding out. [[Koi]] finished off [[Beuford "Saint' Mcgill|Saint]]'s bouncer, before posing the two together for a series of photos he can embarrass his fellow runner with in the future. [[Okami]]'s target, now under control, pointed the team to their boss before being knocked out with stick and shock rounds.

Breaching the office doors with flashbang grenades, the team disabled a final ganger while [[Sarah Glenn]]--the ring leader--surrendered. As a show of good faith for her surrender, the team administered first aid to the ganger who was bleeding out and--seeing that [[Sarah Glenn|Sarah]] did not stock BTLs, K10, or any of the other nasty stuff, allowed her group to keep their drugs if they'd relocate. Since [[Sarah Glenn|Glenn]] uses the money from her sales to fund anti-[[Halloweeners|Halloweener]] actions, (and probably because all the rest of her gang was completely neutralized,) she took the offer.

==Aftermath==
The building, clear of gangers, is being remodeled for [[BioGen]]. [[Sarah Glenn]] continues to work on her anti-[[Halloweeners|Halloweener]] crusade, albeit from a new location. Runners that were so inclined have a new dealer connection. And, as a fun aside, the "fart tornado" released by [[Beuford "Saint' Mcgill|Saint]] earlier in the day was called "rowdy youths" by the news.
==Rewards==
Players earned 16,500 and 1 faction rep from [[BioGen]] for clearing the premises. Additionally, players earned four karma and could choose to add [[Sarah Glenn]] as a contact (at normal rates) for choosing a non-lethal path and administering aid to fallen gangers.

That mess at Stuffer Shack is exactly why you should never rely on magic to do a drone’s job. Luckily, security at this target obviously was not intended to counter a rigger. It was easy enough to get a flyspy in their vents and count the guns we’d be dealing with. Unluckily, I found they had a couple Mitsuhamas modified as tracked gun turrets to keep the peace amongst the drugged rabble.

Mr. Charleston came through for us though, got me 3 sticks TNT quick. Only needed two to take care of the drones. Provided a nice distraction while we breached the perimeter at midnight too.

Turns out I was the only one not loaded with stick n shock, so one of the gangers ended up full of holes while the others were just twitching. Made negotiations with Sarah Glenn afterwards real awkward. I won’t be making that mistake again; I think Charleston carries stick n shock and I gotta spend this nuyen somewhere.

His father a human man named Sato Yojin and his mother, a ork named Debbie Yojin. they married unofficially after the fighting stopped and had a litter of babies of 4 soon after. born human, Hiro was taught from a young age how to shoot a weapon, tactics, and how to move unseen. when he wasn't learning how to defend himself and others from imperials or humanis goons he helped the family run a shelter "the koi pond" (a unofficially sponsored branch of mothers of metahumans) a bed and a warm meal for whoever got their first, Hiro had a lot of practice here to talk to the down on their luck and those who lost faith in metahumanity, it lead to better then average social skills. shortly after goblinzing at 15 he got into a bad car accident with a friend and needed new eyes after the glass of the windshield ruined his organics. his family never being flush with nuyen, lead him to work of the debt of his replacement parts in shadow-work to start paying off the debt. and in one lucky job he managed to pay it off, his family not supporting his shadowrunning idea or lifestyle, tried to convince him to get back to the family business. he disagreed and left to Seattle to make it big and find his own truth

==Summary==
The runners were hired by a group of urban shaman to save a construction site that included a massive concrete slab of critical importance to the The Union of Pebbles, Gravel, Limestone, and Debris, local 414 - a group of urban concrete spirits.

They sabotaged the construction site and ultimately convinced the VP of BrightStar Consortium to halt construction and give the land to the urban shaman to safeguard.

==Background==
[[Farsight]], [[KBC]], [[Koi]], and [[Roadkill]] arrived at the meet. It looked like a warehouse nightclub. They had to display the curious rune from the run post to get in. This proved to be a picture of the intersection where the warehouse nightclub for the urban shaman is located. In the parking lot, they encountered [[Billy the Shaman]] who was interacting with all of the cars parked there, almost as if they were living animals he was shepherding.

Once inside, [[KBC]] was drawn to a man in construction clothes talking about how concerned he was that a building was going to be torn down. (He would prove to be an ally spirit of the urban shaman Jerry.) Jerry realized the group were the runners hired by head urban shaman Zen. [[Farsight]] could see that Zen and Jerry were shaman, and the construction worker was a spirit of concrete. Jerry gave the construction worker a brick.

==The Meet==
Zen, the Johnson, explained that the runners would need to do whatever was necessary to stop the site from being demolished. She provided the address. It was clear that it was very important to the construction worker spirit, also.

Zen paid them up front.

She also agreed that they could use the basement room on the back of the club for planning.

==The Plan==
[[KBC]] searched the matrix for information about the building, the person or organization who bought it, and any recent cases of construction being halted to see what reasons had been sufficient in the past. They learned that the building was an old union building, over 100 years old. The foundation was very unusual - a massive unbroken slab of concrete extending not only under the building, but under its parking lot as well. KBC knew with her knowledge of construction that there was no mundane reason to have a foundation of that size, or to use a single piece of concrete like that. She asked [[Farsight]] if there could be a magical explanation.

[[Farsight]] scouted in astral. He found a very large group of spirits, just like the construction worker spirit at the warehouse. He could not find any arcane reason for the concrete, beyond that it certainly seemed to make the spirits happy to have it there.

[[KBC]] learned that the site had been bought by Brightstart Consortium. They had recently moved into Seattle from Salish-Sidhe territory, wanting to operate where there was less environmental regulation. They were planning to build a large industrial facility, to make NERPs. She found a few cases of cancelled construction projects, but it was always because some cost became unbearable. There was no indication that sites in this area could be protected by a historic designation, or appearance of protected wildlife.

[[Koi]] and [[Roadkill]] scouted the physical site, being stealthy. They confirmed the constructions was being done by Steinhauser Construction Company. [[Roadkill]] captured trid of all he saw, with his cyber eyes, and transmitted to the others. When he was stopped by a lock on the construction site trailer door, [[KBC]] was able to hack it open for him. Once inside, he collected pictures of before and after blueprints and several loose data chips. He secured a data tap to the terminal. [[KBC]] reviewed the data on the terminal and shared it with the team. It included staffing lists, communications over their e-mail system, payroll information, security information, and equipment lists.

The construction worker spirit from the warehouse was inside the trailer and encouraged [[Roadkill]] to come inside the building for more information.

The initial plan was to sabotage the construction site, making it impossible and cost-prohibitive for work to continue, and to investigate what was going on inside the building.

==The Run==
[[Farsight]], with support from the team, crafted a convincing e-mail message to all staff from HR which told them the job was cancelled and they should no longer report to work. [[KBC]] sent it via the terminal to all the construction staff.

[[Farsight]] and [[Roadkill] went in to the building to see what was going on with the spirits of concrete. They were having a union meeting. They began by reviewing minutes and then moved to a discussion of the new business - what to do about the construction work. They had appealed to their friends for help. (The urban shaman.) [[Roadkill]] gave a very stirring speech about the philosophy of neo-anarchism for the people to rise up against the man. [[Farsight]] reinforced this message with a further speech. The concrete spirits were definitely moved by the speeches, and beginning to rally.

Then, [[Farsight]] sensed something filthy and foul approaching. A toxic spirit! The newly emboldened construction spirits threw their bricks at it. [[Farsight]] attacked it as it manifeested with a mighty blow that completely annihilated it.

With the toxic spirit dispatched, the concrete spirits readily joined the runners in dismantling the construction equipment. An orgy of violence followed. [[Koi]] took one jackhammer and used it on the other jackhammers, pummeling them out of shape. [[KBC]] bricked the vehicle with the crane and the wrecking ball. It was soon a sparking, smoking mess. [[Roadkill]] detonated a couple frag grenades in the construction trailer. The construction spirits helped them break everything down into pieces.

To send a particularly strong message to the company, they took the disassembled broken equipment and other supplies on site, and with [[KBC]]'s construction guidance, and the help of the spirits of concrete, reinforced the aging union building to make it more sturdy and harder to tear down.

Their sabotage complete, they got some rest, and then returned in the morning to see what reaction there was to all they had done.

Was this enough? As they were waiting on their stakeout, [[KBC]] and [[Farsight]] researched options to protect the site by registering it as a sacred space to so many spirits. [[Farsight]] could do so with his psychometric license. [[KBC]] found the proper organization to file with. But that process would take time. Likewise, they could perhaps disincent the factory being built by stealing the data about the NERP to be built there, and selling it to the competition. [[KBC]] obtained that paydata.

A few construction workers had missed the e-mail and did show up to work, but the majority of workers stayed away, as hoped.

But then a fancy car pulled up to survey the damage. A man in an expensive suit, and a female assistant. A few guards.

The group took bets as to whether the man was a toxic shaman. [[KBC]] won over 100 nuyen from the others by correctly guessing that the man was mundane. It was the woman - the assistant - who was the shaman.

The runners did some quick review of options and decided the best thing was to kill the shaman, subdue the guards, and subdue and kidnap the VP. They would pressure him into giving up the land permanently. [[Farsight]] would ask the urban shaman for help, including - if possible - sending an air spirit to help, and specifically follow Koi's direction (who would have a bird's eye view). [[KBC]] would take over the fancy car, and potentially use it as a weapon to run over the shaman, if needed. As a first step, she stealthily acquired her marks and locked the doors so they could not get in if they tried to escape when the combat started. [[Koi]] took up a sniper position on a nearby rooftop. [[Roadkill]] planned to stun the group with a powerful neurotoxin grenade.

The urban shaman sent a spirit of the airwaves.

[[Roadkill]] landed the grenade at the VP's feet. The VP, the two guards, and several of the construction workers fell unconscious. The shaman managed to shuffle out of the cloud of gas, and began to manifest on the astral. [[Farsight]] landed a powerful blow in astral combat, killing the toxic shaman. Fearful that the grenade was powerful enough that it might kill the folks now unconscious, [[Koi]] sent the spirit of the airwaves to disperse the gas, which it did with the vibrations of loud music on its boombox, and shuffle-style dancing. [[KBC]] was monitoring and realized that the VP had tried to trigger an emergency distress beacon of some kind from a hidden commlink. She acted quickly to squelch the signal before it could transmit, while she got close enough with a jammer to block the transmission.

They loaded the captive restrained VP into [[Roadkill]]'s van, and began driving away. They drove in circles while they tried to arrange a meet up with [[Farsight]] to lead the investigation. (His body was still back at the warehouse, and now crashing out from drugs.) [[Billy the Shaman]] helped them get word to Jerry at the warehouse to detox Farsight, and have him call-in for the meet-up. Meanwhile, [[Koi]] and [[Roadkill]] attempted to get help from contacts for a safehouse to conduct a 'negotiation'. [[Roadkill]]'s contact [[The Florist]] came through with an address.

At the warehouse, [[Koi]] led the effort to find the hidden emergency beacon. It was up his nose! Koi yanked it out, and gave it to KBC to brick. [[Roadkill]] used his considerable medical skill to patch the VP up and wake him up. Still restrained.

[[Farsight]] led the negotiations, while the other three stood behind him in full armor and masks looking intimidating. The VP did not initially want to give up the site, though he took the runner's threat seriously. He had invested a lot of money. But it gradually became clear that he did respect spirits. The VP's mother was a mage, and the spirits had saved her. It seemed the toxic shaman had deceived him in some ways, making him think the site was good for their purposes because it was already toxic and they couldn't make it any worse. He genuinely did not want to upset a site sacred to so large a number of urban concrete spirits. He agreed to meet with the person who wanted to take over the ownership of the land (their Johnson, Zen) to work it out. The runners called Zen and let her know the situation. She and several others of the urban shaman arrived, and she negotiated with the VP. He agreed to give the ownership of the land to her.

==Aftermath==
The site of the enormous concrete foundation that now serves as a guild hall for The Union of Pebbles, Gravel, Limestone, and Debris, local 414, was saved. The land now belongs to the urban shaman to protect.

The runners did their job, and got paid.

Also, I was pretty excited to have my contact Miss Moon - a construction expert - ready to call. Though she wasn't available, and I had to leave a message. And now I have a new contact! Billy. And three new colleagues who I very much look forward to working with again. Also, it felt pretty good sticking it to that dreckhole corporate guy. A happy ending for all. Except the toxic shaman. And she deserved it.

Mighty smashes, powerful bashes, and Herculean '''YEETS''' were the highlights of this breathtaking display of the limits of the human body. In the end, Sage and Roadie prevailed, defeating their fierce foe by only the narrowest of margins, while, of course, producing the finest entertainment this side of the Mississippi.

Koi was roused by a stim patch that smelled suspiciously of barbeque sauce.

Rasputin was released from prison (again) (probably).

Roadie and Sage went home with the trophy, a large, supposedly solid gold statuette of Gui Furruri himself. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the figurine was instead chocolate wrapped in golden tinfoil.

With their fighting done and their prize collected, the gang celebrated their success with a few drinks before heading home to fight another day.

Nobody knows where Gui Furruri went. Some say he is still organizing quasi-legal fighting tournaments in middle-class gyms. Some believe he was never even in Seattle. Some still believe that he never even existed in the first place. It is not my place to say which one is true, or whether he will return. We will likely never scratch the surface of that man's mind, never comprehend what gears turn under that thin facade of sanity, but one thing is apparent: Kombat is (Im)Mortal.

Runners are hired to kill gangers who have taken up place on an air strip. They negotiated them off instead, then blew up the Johnson's supply.

==Background==
The Black Vory are an up and coming syndicate who have been flooding the Seattle market with K-10. They use this airstrip for smuggling. For some reason, they have decided to set up a gang for annihilation.

==The Meet==
They meet in a warehouse. The J is wearing multiple coverings, keeping himself hidden from head to toe, as well as his two troll-sized bodyguards, similarly hidden. He offers them 18,000 nuyen to kill everyone at the air strip, inject a few with an unknown substance he provides, and make sure no one knows that the runners nor the Johnson was involved. They accept the contract.

==The Plan==
The runners are suspicious of an unknown substance and a J that goes through that much effort to not be recognized. Twitch and Ojou follow them in Fly Spys, but learn no new information. They contact Felipe Chandler, who identifies the substance as K-10. Goro Mazomoto identifies the air strip as being used by the newer Black Vory syndicate.

Meanwhile Koi and Fletchette snuck into the airstrip to gather information on the gangers. Fletchette threw a Kanmushi into the rough area and caught a conversation about how they just waltzed in and got a free air strip, basically. This led them to realize that these gangers are probably not a malicious sort and probably don't deserve what the Johnson wants to happen to them. Of course, they're getting paid, so, it's a job, right? Well, on further inspection, they find loads of K-10. Multiple crates filled with K-10. This tips the scale so that Fletchette and Koi are both on board with trying to stop K-10 from hitting the streets. Ojou is less gung ho, but with the group, including her boyfriend, vehemently wanting to destroy it, she agrees.

==The Run==
Twitch calls up Mother Komodo and asks her to speak with the gang about leaving so that no fighting is required. She does so successfully, but Twitch discovers a drone that caught a portion of the meet. He disables it with LOTO and it is transported out to him. He stores it in a Faraday Pocket. Once the meet concludes, the runners set about gathering information. They locate a Goliath, a large stockpile of weapons, armor and K-10, and a few EVO jumpsuits. Twitch, thinking about his neighbor [[Boom Poom]], calls him up and a simsense from Ojou is sent to him. Boom Poom identifies it as EVO experiment jumpsuits, which makes the runners believe the J and his troll-sized bodyguards are perhaps EVO experiments similar to their Puma-man friend and runner.

Twitch hacks the host, gathering information on the J. They find that the K-10 is sourced from EVO extraterritorial property in Russia, sent to Alask, and then moved from there to Seattle. They also find financial records which indicate a much richer syndicate than ought to be from the size and time they have been running, leading to further speculation that they are backed by EVO. The runners load a few weapons and armor into the Goliath, and an aircraft up above. Twitch and Ojou transport the illicit goods out as Ojou loads explosives and Kerosene around the crates. Once they are away, they blow the whole thing up.

The Tomura Family are old money. The men of the family had been investors for many generations. They had had a lot of luck in the companies they invested in (Including stock in Yamatetsu Corporation before it became EVO), and the family was very well off.

Tomura Shota had inherited the Tomura family wealth when his father had passed a few years before, and he was eager for a son to pass everything on to. Haoru, born an elf in the 2030s, had married Shota when they were both very young. Looking for a trophy wife to call his own, Haoru looked just elf enough to be exotic, but human enough to not stand out. Everything seemed like it was going to be perfect, until the arrival of Haley’s Comet flipped their relationship on its head.

Growing up in Japan, Haoru had always been the one to face prejudice, but that would quickly become the opposite when the SURGE hit Shota. The change had been rather fitting, for a man born and raised in Japan, as many described the likeness to that of a Kitsune, with a long tail and pointed ears. It had landed Shota in the hospital for many weeks, where he had insisted they be removed. He only attempted that once… Going through the pain of it growing back a second time was enough.

Everyone was told he was taking an extended vacation. Something to do with Haoru’s health… Only the next few months, he underwent a dozen surgeries to make himself look human again. (Even though they ultimately failed) Haoru did not fully support his decision, but stuck with him the whole time. When it was all said and done, Shota became paranoid about his position in life, and in his marriage. He thought securing an heir would be the perfect way to keep everything the way it was.

In mid 2062, Haoru announced she was pregnant. Sadly, by the end of the year, word would come out that the poor couple had lost the baby,and Haoru would not be seen for months following, said to be grieving for the loss of her child. In reality, April 1, 2063, Haoru gave birth to a happy, healthy… Freak of a baby girl… Tomura Hakuro

When it was discovered, during ultrasound, that the expected baby had developed the same fox-like ears and tail her father had developed, Shota had originally insisted the pregnancy be terminated. He would not let her grow up with the discrimination he was going through.
Haoru would hear none of it. She would keep her baby. It wasn’t a boy, as Shota had hoped, but she would be loved… And hidden...It took much careful planning, and even more money to pay off the people involved. Doctors, staff, and many others would be paid to keep silent. There would be no mention and no sign of any baby… When she was old enough to handle what the world would throw at her, they would concoct a story about how they adopted some less fortunate child as their own… But for the time being… She would be a secret… A ghost…

While Okami did grow up with all the benefits of a rich upbringing, including private mage tutors when her magic manifested during puberty, she was, for all intents and purposes, nonexistent. Often left with a nanny when her parents were away, living the expected life for a couple with no children, she grew up craving a real family, and acceptance for who and what she was. Her parents did, in fact, love her very much, and her father spoiled her endlessly, but it would seem a lot of that was to shush a child yearning for an outside life. Okami took to video games at an early age. Even though she could have any game money could buy, she was drawn to the old 5th world games and spent countless hours alone, playing and replaying whatever games she was given.

In 2071, the Tomura family announced once again, the coming of a baby, and in December, 2071, they would give birth to a very human, baby boy, who they would name Shuno. In the beginning, Okami was very excited about her little brother, and at a young age, they got along very well. Shuno, however, was told Okami was the child of the nanny, since he was not old enough to understand the consequences of referring to her as his sister. It was easy to convince him, what with Okami never being allowed on trips with the family, or to leave the confines of the property. Shortly after Okami's 16th birthday, (she had simply asked to be allowed to go on a trip off the property, but had been denied) the Tomura family announced that Shuno, their only child, would be heir to his father wealth and other holdings. It was the tipping point for Okami, to hear them refer to Shuno as their only child… She packed her bags and ran away as soon as night fell.

Leaving her family for the first time, she had wanted to rebel! Dying her hair, getting tattoos, and staying up all night eating awful food just didn’t seem like enough… She wanted to go big… She’d spent a lot of time reading and learning about the Japan she never got to see, and she then decided she wanted to join the Yakuza! Clearly, this would be the ultimate act of rebellion once her family found out, but… It had proved to be a lot harder than she had anticipated. Everywhere she went, they had turned their nose up at her. Not only was she a woman, but also a changeling, and most couldn’t seem to decide which was worse. Refusing to give up and sulk back to her home, it took her months to find the Inagawa-kai, the one clan in Japan willing to accept her for what she is.

Accept was a loose term… They allowed her in, but she was still a changeling, and still very much a woman, giving her only the most menial of work. Her parents tried to convince her several times to come home, but she was tired of hiding. At least here, she could be herself.
For the first time, she felt like she belonged, and over the next two years, she’d even made some very good friends. Her parents continued to send messengers; people to plead with her to come home. Her mother had even shown up once, horrified by the “conditions” she lived in, and living with a boy no less! She tried to explain he was just a roommate, but her mother was hearing none of it and tried to drag her home. Her mother had been less than thrilled when her roommate, and friend, a tall human who went by the name Ritz, had picked the woman up and carried her from the apartment, placing her outside and shutting the door.

They were just shy of her 18th birthday, and it was another slow shift, guarding a laundromat she was often tasked with watching over. She was sitting on a folding chair on the roof, next to Ritz, watching the area. At least he made for good conversation... There was a meeting happening tonight with a few of the shateigashira, and they were two of the four people on guard duty. Nothing ever happened, and it was probably just an excuse to sit around and drink, while playing cards, but she'd never been allowed in the room to know for sure. She was watching the astral, keeping an eye out for spirits that didn't belong, as unlikely as that may be, when she noticed something. A watcher spirit was nearby, looking around. She began calling it in, when Ritz went down convulsing from a stick and shock round in his neck. Impulse took over, and she ducked under the ledge to make sure he was alright, and not get shot herself. He was out like a short circuit and then the shooting started.
The building rumbled as an Ares roadmaster rammed through the front door. In her panicking, she was caught off guard as a huge air spirit materialized and started engulfing her to choke her into unconsciousness. She managed to dispel the spirit, and as she was catching her breath, she looked over the roofs ledge to see the van outside and a troll in swat gear loading the unconscious Shateigashira’s into the back. She cast a combat spell and hit the troll, making him wince, as he was not as prepared for a magical attack.
Going down to one knee, he screamed “Thought you had the mage, Nyx!”, presumably to another team mate, “Y'all better geek her before you have to carry me out!”
That's when she felt a hard thud as a gel round smacked her in the forehead, knocking her out.

She awoke in a safe house medical center. She was surprised to see that the people hadn’t killed anyone, and the other 2 guards, and Ritz, lay in beds nearby. She’d heard about different punishments they used in the clan for failed jobs, but she’d never seen any in person. Most of her jobs were too pointless to even have the option of failure. Panic set in at this moment, scared of what her punishment might be for failing such a job. She was too young to die! Her hands were too pretty to lose fingers! Jumping out of the bed, she ran back to her small apartment, grabbing what meager belongings she had, and a pile of credsticks from a hiding place. Her mother had been leaving them at least once a month since she found out where she lived. With the money on the credsticks, she bought a fake SIN and a plane ticket.

Ritz had once been to Seattle (it was a layover between flights and he was only there for 13 hours, but he never told her that). He said it was a real place of freedom, and the home of the Shadowrunners. If you were a shadowrunner, you could do what you want, and work for who you want. It had sounded a bit ridiculous at first, but maybe now was the time to find out…

She wasn't sure if she was expecting to start a new life in Seattle, but she quickly discovered that it was not exactly as glamorous as Ritz had described, and just because the city wasn’t as dense as Neo Tokyo, it wasn’t any more welcoming. In an unfamiliar city, without her family to turn to, Okami began her journey in the shadows to etch out a place of her own in the world.

==Summary==
The runners got into a conversation about Mars bars, and decided to try to find some for [[Ironclad]] who was craving them. After chasing a number of leads, they learned of a bunker connected to a building [[Moth]] had helped clear for [[SignificantNPC::Bruno Pereira]] and his refugees the prior week.

They explored the bunker - a preserved slice of history - finding a number of relics of interest, and ultimately the Mars bars. They donated all they found to Bruno's group to continue to build up their hideaway.

But they also found a ghoul cult, and a nefarious plot that is going to take a lot more effort to explore...

==Background==
[[SignificantNPC::Bruno Pereira]] and a group of refugees were fleeing a gang war, involving two factions of the Halloweeners. Previously, [[Ironclad]] had helped protect innocents and punished the gang factions for their violence; see [[Home is where the heart is:Prelude|report]].

And then, Bruno had gotten help from [[Moth]] to clear the future site of the hideaway - a nest of buildings hidden in an overgrown park. See [[A Roof Over Our Heads|report]]. In the course of clearing the buildings, Moth and her runner companions found a saferoom at the bottom of one of the buildings. They also found a toxic pollution spirit in the shape of a sewage rat.

==The Meet==
When [[Ironclad]], [[Koi]], and [[Moth]] initially met up, they weren't sure where to begin to search for Mars bars. With some matrix searching, they began to realize that they would need a place that was stocked historically, and not touched since. An underground bunker, either owned by a private citizen like a disaster prepper, or by the military. But where could they find a bunker like that in Seattle? The three most likely locations were Everett, Redmond, or Puyallup. They reasoned that there ought to be financial records of a structure like that - building permits?, purchase history? But the records would be pre-2011 when so much data was lost. Any remaining records would be too rare to find in a public library.

[[Ironclad]] reached out to [[SignificantNPC::Ruben the Scottish Kid]], who had access to a college's libraries and academic professors. Perhaps he could find the related records? Ruben initially struggled and Ironclad badgered him relentlessly, an angry drill sergeant. The boy burst into tears. He eventually produced information about a construction company that did a wide range of construction in the period of interest (from 1935 forward, when the candy bars were first available), including some underground construction. He found information about prior military bunkers that had been opened and re-sold to a current user. But it was unlikely that any place re-sold like that had not already been cleared of its artifacts. They needed a place that was secret. That had not been disturbed.

[[Moth]] was concerned by how the boy had been treated, and encouraged Ironclad to apologize and offer the boy a homemade meal to make it up to him. While Ruben did not immediately respond, he eventually admitted that his favorite food was breaded chicken fingers and she made him the best chicken fingers he'd ever eaten.

[[Moth]] gave the name of the construction company to her contact, [[SignificantNPC::Legal Eagle]], to see if the named construction company was involved in any court cases, which might have more information such as locations of specific land plots, or blueprints. Unfortunately, he couldn't add anything of note. She could find the company on the matrix, but the records were of public construction projects - malls and schools. Something like a bunker would have likely been hidden, if possible. She was beginning to contemplate interviewing people at nursing homes in the Everett area to see if they had any family stories about a survivalist in a prior generation with a secret bunker.

[[Koi]] started checking with folks on the street in the Barrens to see if any of them had run across a bunker. [[Ironclad]] offered to reach out to a Barrens contact of his, [[SignificantNPC::Bruno Pereira]], to see if he recalled ever seeing a bunker. Bruno replied that he was sleeping over one! That safe room that [[Moth]] and her team had found, which had appeared at the time to be a single room, had a weak wall that collapsed when Bruno and his men were exploring it, revealing a tunnel which might lead to exactly the sort of bunker that they were looking for. Bruno was happy for them to come and explore the tunnel. He mentioned an issue with devil rats they could help address, and a need for groceries.

==The Plan==
The runners were excited to have learned exactly where to search. [[Moth]] knew the way to Bruno's new hideaway. She led the team through the heavily wooded area that concealed it. Once there, they met with Bruno to deliver the groceries and learn more about the tunnel. Among the refugees, a dwarf, Old Billy, recognized [[Koi]] from a prior run. He was a cook. They chatted with him as well, and [[Koi]] explained that he was there to help [[Ironclad]], a loyal grandson. As they walked towards the building with the safehouse, [[Koi]] and [[Moth]] overheard conversation among the refugees that any time they ventured away from the hideaway, that they were afraid of being taken. Something was making people disappear. [[Moth]] thought it was perhaps related to the Redmond kidnappings she had been researching - in which technomancers specifically were being taken. But it didn't sound limited to technomancers. Curious.

They had supplies to help explore the space that [[Moth]] knew was very dark. They had light sources. Gas masks.

They would systematically search any bunker found in the tunnel, looking for the Mars bars. They'd kill any devil-rats they found to make the space safer for Bruno and his people. It sounded nice and simple.

==The Run==
They explored down the tunnel and indeed found the vault doors to a bunker. The doors were sealed tight, but they found a crack in the exterior structural wall that looked like it had been clawed through. Perhaps by devil-rats. No sign of the rats, but this looked like where they were coming from. [[Moth]] squeezed through without any trouble. [[Ironclad]] managed with impressive gymnastics and some careful removing of key pieces of his armor first. [[Koi]] got stuck but managed to squeeze through with Moth's gentle encouragement.

They found themselves in a reception area filled with strange boxes that [[Ironclad]] helped identify as ancient computers. The walls had propaganda posters that he identified as being from the second world war, stirring fear of Asian aggression. He figured that the bunker had been originally built for a small military team during world war two, or just prior. But then the bunker had been re-purposed in the late 1980s.

They began to search the rooms. On this level, in addition to the reception area, there was an infirmary and a security area. [[Moth]] found a map of the complex in the infirmary. They continued to collect the curious artifacts of the past, sure they had some value. In the security room, Moth found a locked box. She tried to lockpick it, but it jammed. She took out her crowbar and tried to pry it open. At first, it seemed like she wasn't strong enough, but [[Ironclad]] hollered at her in drill sergeant mode, and she found a new inner strength and popped it open. Inside, were two extremely ornate antique pistols. They seemed quite valuable.

They continued to descend down through the levels. On the second level, there was a kitchen, mess hall, and game room. [[Ironclad]] was pleased to find a game of monopoly. The kitchen had plenty of sign of rats, but no food currently in it. The food was likely in the storage area on the lowest level. They collected more historical artifacts.

They headed down to the lowest level. The energy source room was partially collapsed. A caved in wall. Nothing currently causing any danger. The living quarters has one room for a couple, and then a barracks with room for three more people. All the mattresses were curiously missing. They continued to collect interesting artifacts. At last, they found the storage room. A very thorough search by [[Moth]] revealed a crate marked sweets. This crate also needed prying open with a crowbar, under [[Ironclad]]'s direction. Inside, some sweets were in poor condition. But there were several unopened 30-bar boxes. Mars bars! Also snickers bars and kit kats. The boxes had extensive nutritional and ingredient information for each candy bar. Ironclad was ecstatic. They had found the bars! He held the box reverently.

But there was a hole in the wall opposite the store room!

They investigated. [[Moth]] showed them that the tracks here were much bigger. Claws big as a person might have, rather than a devil-rat. They agreed that they needed to investigate.

They followed the tunnel down a long way before coming to the first branch. The most, and most recent, claw marks were along the left branch. They followed that path and came to another set of branching paths. [[Koi]] found a rope leading down one of the branches. [[Moth]] studied the tracks. From every direction but the branch with the rope, it looked like bodies had been dragged to this central point. And then down the path with the rope. Clearly that was the way to go. They were now sure this was related to the kidnappings. But who or what was behind it?

This led them to a larger opening. There were six makeshift tents around this room, some with the missing mattresses. A fire in the center. As they watched, stealthily, a figure came out of one of the tents. It was a feral ghoul. The runners were just beginning to consider how to deal with these feral ghouls when a loud noise like a beating heart reverberated through the cave. The ghouls reacted to this noise and headed out of this room and up another corridor. Were these ghouls what remained of the people who had been taken?

The runners followed stealthily. The path led to a larger chamber. There were rocks with strange ritualistic carvings. There was a more sentient ghoul conducting some kind of ritual. Fifteen feral ghouls. It sounded like he was about to offer a sacrifice? To something he expected to appear? He continued to murmur and chant.

A mage ghoul? Summoning something? And perhaps one of the kidnapping victims about to be sacrificed? And then a huge toxic nuclear spirit appeared! They had to stop it! [[Ironclad]] kicked things off by tossing in a flash-bang grenade. It rolled off course, but ended up catching the chanting ghoul and one of the ghoul groups.

Their first priority was to drop the mage ghoul. [[Ironclad]] and [[Koi]] successfully killed him before he could issue a command to the nuclear spirit. Inspired by [[Moth]]'s encouraging speeches, the two men fired volley after volley of shots at the rapidly approaching feral ghouls. Moth was terrified of being infected. Ironclad and Koi were brave. Undaunted. They held their ground and kept firing. The toxic spirit drifted closer. Was it a threat too? They could recall it had not been given a command by the chanting ghoul. They made the decision to focus fire on the feral ghouls so they could not reach melee range. In his final shots before the ghouls could act again, [[Koi]] killed the second to last of the fifteen, and injured the remaining one so badly that it dropped to the ground screeching, unable to advance.

The nuclear spirit fed on the ghoul, absorbing it completely into its spirit body. And - in that moment - it radiated a blinding light, before vanishing completely. Was it gone forever? Likely to return? And where was the captive they had thought was about to be sacrificed from the chanting words. They'd never gotten a good look at a captive.

Luckily, [[Koi]] had been watching just precisely right in that moment, and as the others shut their eyes to shield them from the light, he looked past the toxic spirit with his cyber eyes, catching a glimpse of movement in the shadows beyond. That gave him camera footage he could review, and with the benefit of his cyber eyes' vision enhancement and magnification. There was a man in a corpsec uniform who carried off the body of the captive slung over his shoulder, as the spirit moved to blind them. There was a much bigger plot afoot! [[Koi]] studied the footage ever so carefully. He caught a flash of a logo. The man worked for Metagenics Research Consortium (MRC). Maybe they had the captives still. This needed more investigation! But it was an important clue.

They returned to Bruno, and gave him the full report. [[Koi]] made him an AR map of the area they had explored, and the contact information for [[SignificantNPC::Professor Simeon Jones]], who has a strong interest in the ancient objects and was the ideal buyer for the objects found. [[Ironclad]] gave Bruno the custom pistols, for which he was very grateful, and offered to come by frequently to help out at the hideaway, with medical support and their other needs.

[[Moth]] was concerned also about the toxic spirit. Would it come back? Were Bruno's people going to be corrupted by it, down beneath where they were living? She called her expert mage contact, another member of the Laesa Syndicate,
[[SignificantNPC::The Steward]]. He was intrigued by the mystery of it. With a 500 nuyen payment, he was willing to astral project to the bunker tunnels and assense the site, with 24 hours of surveillance to see if the spirit returns. At the end of his surveillance, he confirmed that the toxic spirit had not returned. But, there was a mage who moved through the area! The Steward has his astral signature, and would recognize it again. They deduced that this corporate mage had in fact summoned the toxic spirit and had been using it to maintain the ghoul cult. He was part of the kidnapping plot. Part of Metagenics Research Consortium (MRC).

==Aftermath==
Bruno - who had been quite tight on cash - now had a good pair of vintage weapons and 30,000 nuyen worth of 5th world artifacts - to help support his people. The most immediate threat to his people - the ghouls - had been taken care of.

The mysterious mage had the power to summon the toxic spirit again, but had lost his ghoul cult.

People were still being kidnapped by Metagenics Research Consortium (MRC).

The three runners had their desired Mars bars. Ironclad has the Mars bars, and is looking to deep-fry them. Moth has enough information to try to replicate the flavor combination in recipes.

The three runners were determined to get to the bottom of this mystery, and go after Metagenics Research Consortium (MRC) in the next chapter...

Undaunted. They held their ground and kept firing. The toxic spirit drifted closer. Was it a threat too? They could recall it had not been given a command by the chanting ghoul. They made the decision to focus fire on the feral ghouls so they could not reach melee range. In his final shots before the ghouls could act again, [[Koi]] killed the second to last of the fifteen, and injured the remaining one so badly that it dropped to the ground screeching, unable to advance.

The nuclear spirit fed on the ghoul, absorbing it completely into its spirit body. And - in that moment - it radiated a blinding light, before vanishing completely. Was it gone forever? Likely to return? And where was the captive they had thought was about to be sacrificed from the chanting words. They'd never gotten a good look at a captive.

Luckily, [[Koi]] had been watching just precisely right in that moment, and as the others shut their eyes to shield them from the light, he looked past the toxic spirit with his cyber eyes, catching a glimpse of movement in the shadows beyond. That gave him camera footage he could review, and with the benefit of his cyber eyes' vision enhancement and magnification. There was a man in a corpsec uniform who carried off the body of the captive slung over his shoulder, as the spirit moved to blind them. There was a much bigger plot afoot! [[Koi]] studied the footage ever so carefully. He caught a flash of a logo. The man worked for Metagenics Research Consortium (MRC). Maybe they had the captives still. This needed more investigation! But it was an important clue.

They returned to Bruno, and gave him the full report. [[Koi]] made him an AR map of the area they had explored, and the contact information for [[SignificantNPC::Professor Simeon Jones]], who has a strong interest in the ancient objects and was the ideal buyer for the objects found. [[Ironclad]] gave Bruno the custom pistols, for which he was very grateful, and offered to come by frequently to help out at the hideaway, with medical support and their other needs.

[[Moth]] was concerned also about the toxic spirit. Would it come back? Were Bruno's people going to be corrupted by it, down beneath where they were living? She called her expert mage contact, another member of the Laesa Syndicate,
[[SignificantNPC::The Steward]]. He was intrigued by the mystery of it. With a 500 nuyen payment, he was willing to astral project to the bunker tunnels and assense the site, with 24 hours of surveillance to see if the spirit returns. At the end of his surveillance, he confirmed that the toxic spirit had not returned. But, there was a mage who moved through the area! The Steward has his astral signature, and would recognize it again. They deduced that this corporate mage had in fact summoned the toxic spirit and had been using it to maintain the ghoul cult. He was part of the kidnapping plot. Part of Metagenics Research Consortium (MRC).

==Aftermath==
Bruno - who had been quite tight on cash - now had a good pair of vintage weapons and 30,000 nuyen worth of 5th world artifacts - to help support his people. The most immediate threat to his people - the ghouls - had been taken care of.

The mysterious mage had the power to summon the toxic spirit again, but had lost his ghoul cult.

People were still being kidnapped by Metagenics Research Consortium (MRC).

The three runners had their desired Mars bars. Ironclad has the Mars bars, and is looking to deep-fry them. Moth has enough information to try to replicate the flavor combination in recipes.

The three runners were determined to get to the bottom of this mystery, and go after Metagenics Research Consortium (MRC) in the next chapter...

His father a human man named Sato Yojin and his mother, a ork named Debbie Yojin. they married unofficially after the fighting stopped and had a litter of babies of 4 soon after. born human, Hiro was taught from a young age how to shoot a weapon, tactics, and how to move unseen. when he wasn't learning how to defend himself and others from imperials or humanis goons he helped the family run a shelter "the koi pond" (a unofficially sponsored branch of mothers of metahumans) a bed and a warm meal for whoever got their first, Hiro had a lot of practice here to talk to the down on their luck and those who lost faith in metahumanity, it lead to better then average social skills. shortly after goblinzing at 15 he got into a bad car accident with a friend and needed new eyes after the glass of the windshield ruined his organics. his family never being flush with nuyen, lead him to work of the debt of his replacement parts in shadow-work to start paying off the debt. and in one lucky job he managed to pay it off, his family not supporting his shadowrunning idea or lifestyle, tried to convince him to get back to the family business. he disagreed and left to Seattle to make it big and find his own truth

==Summary==

The team were contacted through their Fixers that a Johnson had a job for them, and they met over the Matrix in a medieval-themed Host. There, the Johnson informed them that he wanted them to steal a container from an Ares warehouse, though they didn't know what was in it. They were also given a minor side-objective to find out what had happened to a warehouse worker who hadn't been home in a while, though she was still working. The team accepted the job.

Info received through Pollux's contact Axxess led them to believe that the missing woman and some of her coworkers were bug spirits, and so the team prepared for that. After on-site scouting brought them to the conclusion that there was no easy way in, they approached a neighbouring Aztechnology warehouse to get some assistance, which worked out quite well. The group snuck in at night, after the package had been delivered, but quickly got discovered, and Pollux and Ironclad got taken down. However, through some skillful shooting from their remaining companions and help from an Aztechnology decker, they made it out with a bug spirit corpse and a few cases, one of which turned out to have their prize: Deltaware cyberware.

==The Meet==

At about mid-morning, each member of the group received a call from their Fixer: A Johnson wanted a meet. The group decided to get it done as soon as possible, and were instructed to get marks on a Host in the Matrix. When they arrived, it turned out to be themed after a medieval castle, and they were given the option to change their avatars to match the theme. Ironclad became a plate-clad knight, Pollux became a witch wearing fire-y plate, Skadi became a viking, and Koi...became some kind of 2d fish, styled after old medieval art. They were lead down to the 'dungeons' of the castle, where they had their meet.

The Johnson had reason to believe that there was a large shipment coming into an Ares warehouse through a ship called Gloria. They were uncertain as to what it really was, but they wanted it nonetheless. They also had a side-objective: Discover what had happened to a woman named Rachel McAllan, a worker at the warehouse. She had been seen coming and going from the building, but her husband, Sylvester McAllan, reported that she hadn't returned home. The group took up the job, as well as the side-job, and headed out.

==The Plan==

The group met up at Pollux's apartment to raid her fridge while they worked on a plan. Pollux called up one of her contacts, Axxess, to take a look into the warehouse. After half an hour of waiting, they got information back: The warehouse was entirely under Ares control, and some coworkers had reported that Rachel and two others had been acting strange. Axxess gave a certain implication related to Ares' history, and the group came to a conclusion. Rachel, as well as the two others, may be bug spirits. After paying Axxess for the info, they decided to do some on-site legwork.

After figuring out that Skadi wouldn't have been able to fit into Pollux's Shin-Hyung, they used the giant woman's instead, and drove around the area. The warehouse was heavily fortified, two stories, with monowire-topped fencing and multiple gun turrets, and they were flanked by Aztechnology and Saeder-Krupp warehouses. They spitballed various ideas, such as zip-lining from a nearby building or setting up a distraction with a cheap car loaded with explosives, but decided to break away for a moment to see if Sylvester knew anything. They rang him up, and he arranged a meeting at a park in Snohomish.

They arrived and met up, though curiously, he called himself James and seemed quite clammy about the entire thing, even going as far to bring a white noise generator. After some questioning that didn't really go anywhere, they stumbled upon a sore spot, which was that Rachel was actually Awakened. That appeared to be the reason why he was so wary, but the group convinced him they weren't an anti-Awakened group or anything like that. Still, he had nothing that would help them get in, other than the location of a fire escape and a map cobbled together from memory of discussions with his wife, so they went back to the drawing board.

Eventually, the group settled on an idea: Aztechnology probably wasn't a fan of bug spirits on their doorstep, nor the background count associated with them being there, so the group decided to try and see if they could get their help, morals be damned. Through Da-Xia Wu, they managed to set up a meeting for the day after with the warehouse manager, and went to bed.

The day after, the group met with the manager. It went amicably, with some double-talk that boiled down to informing him that there were bug spirits next door, and it could be mutually beneficial if the corp provided them with some aid to get in and do their job, while eliminating spirits. The manager also asked for Rachel's corpse, but by that point, the group didn't care about one woman's life, and so accepted, with the manager offering the services of an on-call Decker to help them when needed. Finally, they were ready for the run.

==The Run==

The plan was thus: Using rappeling gloves, the group would hop the fence the morning after the delivery, after the boat had left but before the package had been delivered to Ares HQ. They'd find the positions of Rachel and the package, kill the former and secure the latter, then leave, alarms be damned, to the Aztechnology warehouse.

Naturally, it did not go that smoothly.

The group managed to get over the fence, though a piece of Pollux's chameleon suit got snagged, but she managed to grab it. They approached the fire escape, but after some checking from Pollux, they ascertained that entering that way would trigger an alarm. Instead, they decided to ascend to the ballistic glass roof to take a bird's eye view, and Pollux used her grapple gun to create a path up. When she was up there however, she noticed two guards approaching, and told the others to hurry. They decided to climb, but Koi got spotted halfway up, and that was when hostilities started. Although Koi fell from the wire, the group dispatched the pair of guards, but not before one of them had sent a message over commlink.

The group made it up to the roof, and began to multitask. Skadi called in their Decker support, who appeared to start fighting with the Ares security spider for dominance. Pollux worked on AR marking Rachel and any packages that seemed to be the right size, and Ironclad set up some explosives to get them in. After recklessly checking up close on the detonation caps (which had 15 seconds left) when Ironclad's commlink went down, the group began descending. Pollux set up her grapple gun again, and they started going down.

Pollux was the first to descend, but setting up the line for her comrades meant she could do nothing else. Skadi took a shot at Rachel, and confirmed their suspicions that she was a bug spirit, though even a bullet through the face didn't finish her off. Ironclad managed to kill her however, and the other two spirits started fleeing. In the meantime however, being the first on the ground of the unlit warehouse made Pollux a prime target for their Ares CorpSec however, and she was easily taken down, and began bleeding out. Ironclad descended next to stabilize her, and succeeded in doing so, before being knocked out himself. It was only through some masterful shooting, dodging, and grenade-kicking on Koi and Skadi's part that the group made it out, as the latter picked off the CorpSec members like flies from her position on the roof.

Koi used a stim patch on Ironclad to pick him up, so he could work on the more severely-wounded Pollux. After they were in good enough health to escape, they collected their target's corpse and the three packages that Pollux had marked, and made their escape, thankfully untouched by the gun turrets due to the decker's efforts. They delivered Rachel's corpse to the manager, though not before taking her wedding ring to deliver to Sylvester, then headed to Ironclad's abode so he could work on them.

==Aftermath==

The group spent a day resting so that Ironclad and Pollux could deal with their wounds, and so they could check what was in the crates. Each of them was trapped with grenades, but they managed to disarm each and see what was in the boxes. While one was filled with nothing but straw and packing peanuts, the other two were more to their expectations: The first was filled with used cyberware, while the latter was being used to transport Deltaware cyberware, mostly limbs. They informed the Johnson that they had the package, and that Rachel had been a bug spirit, which he seemed unsurprised by. They set up a drop at a chop shop for the day after, then went to inform Sylvester of his wife's fate.

While they did leave out the gory details, the group told Sylvester that his wife had been the victim of an Ares experiment gone wrong, and delivered the ring (as well as a bottle of Jack Daniel's from Pollux's stash). Koi sent along a file that told him what had really happened to his wife, which he appeared to have opened. With their cold-heartedness downplayed a little, they went their ways, made the drop, and got their pay.

A studious human, Dr. Gotham is surprisingly nimble for his advanced age. He's the head doctor of the charitable Clones and Cyber walk-in clinic, which services the SINless's ware for no cost. The funding for the clinic comes from 'Anonymous Donors', who come after hours to get illegal 'ware installed, for a hefty fee.

Currently, the plans for the Striker II are nearly “complete.” Which is to say, there is a lot of argle bargle and falsified progress reports as she pockets the money supposedly spent on that team (fun fact: the project information is a sketch of a weapon that makes no physical sense to anyone remotely familiar with weapons, and the words “lorem ipsum” typed 1,258 times). So far, she has gotten away with it. Well, until recently. It seems someone at corporate is getting suspicious and has ordered the prototype delivered that night.

Evelyn has arranged for the destruction of the data and backups about the Striker II, but needs someone to pin the loss of the data and prototype on. She purchases a Burner SIN for Shiawase, posing as an exec who wants that prototype and arranges for an “accident”. All the runners have to do is roll in, clean up any security, take the described case, and bring it back to her.

==The Meet==
The runners meet at The Banshee nightclub in downtown. Howler arrives and enjoys the nightclub itself for a while. Doppel realizes that the entire place is understaffed and feels compelled to work until it is time for the meet, despite Koi's protest, who has also arrived. Rigs arrives and despite being directed to where he needs to go, begins asking random patrons if they are the Johnson or if they have seen the Johnson. One girl takes particular interest and gives him her number.

They all eventually find their way into the back room, a few minutes late thanks to Rigs, who finally manages to make it. She offers drink orders, which Doppel immediately moves to get, making the Johnson wait even more. Finally, she reveals the basics of the job: she has the data she needs, she has arranged for an "accident" with the vehicle transporting the prototype, and all they need to do is arrive, deal with KE who is probably transporting the prototype to the airport, and then bring the prototype to her. The party takes an unusual interest in the box, trying to figure out exactly what the prototype is by asking for dimensions, shape, size, etc. of the box, as well as a worry of exposure. She assures them it is easily transportable and safe. They settle on a final payout of 9,000 nuyen. She hands them a metalink to be contacted on when the accident happens, the planned approximate location, and the RFID tag number to verify they have the correct item.

==The Plan==
Rigs realizes this is an Ares executive and is aware that the next-gen Striker prototype is meant to be shipped soon. This is probably that.

The party drives in Rigs' Saxmaster, the beefed up Roadmaster, to the indicated location. They pass the time in various ways before getting the text.

==The Run==
Rigs is able to arrive on the scene in less than a minute. With this being a AA security zone, they figure they have at most 4 more minutes. HTR has already sent two spirits as back up, and the security team is prepared for an assault from the road, with a total of 4 guards, 2 drones and 2 spirits deployed. Rigs drives into the grass beside them, negating their cover.

Howler opens with a well placed and well cast Vines spell, immediately binding all the guards and the drones. The drones, however, had been pointed in the correct direction and began laying down suppressive fire. The spirits unmanifested, then remanifested, freeing themselves from the binds. It was a great move, but hadn't negated everyone yet.

Rigs manages to get out and shoot the two drones down with some great shooting and the vines holding them in place decreasing their ability to dodge. Doppel supports the team. Howler begins opening fire on one of the spirits while the other manifests on the far side of the team. The team focuses on taking out whoever they can. One of the guard's guns bricks, and it wasn't Doppel doing it. They connect this to possibly being the "inside guy" that the Johnson had said might be there. Doppel identifies him on the matrix.

The team finishes off the first spirit, while the second disappears back into the astral plane. Howler astrally perceives and sees it in the car with them. She quickly casts a stunbolt recklessly and it is enough to finish the spirit off.

The team approaches the vehicle, whose back has been opened, courtesy of their inside man, and are suddenly ambushed by two more guards inside. The team moves to neutralize them, but not fast enough, as one of the guards is still up and pulls the trigger, only to find that the gun had been disabled while he had been distracted. He grabs the box and tries to run, but Koi shoots him and knocks him out.

==Aftermath==
The size and weight of the box seems appropriate for the indicated item, but the balance seems off. Still, the RFID matches, so they take it back to the Johnson. Rigs comments that she should get a better weapon than a Striker, which causes her to worry for a second, but after she takes a moment to think on it, she realizes he's only figured out the project, and not the full truth. She pays them the standard amount and keeps the credsticks she had readied in case of possible blackmail.

She manages to blame runners for the loss of data and prototype and the project to create the next gen Striker begins anew. This one will be legitimate. She will have to pick a new project to embezzle from.

His father a human man named Sato Yojin and his mother, a ork named Debbie Yojin. they married unofficially after the fighting stopped and had a litter of babies of 4 soon after. born human, Hiro was taught from a young age how to shoot a weapon, tactics, and how to move unseen. when he wasn't learning how to defend himself and others from imperials or humanis goons he helped the family run a shelter "the koi pond" (a unofficially sponsored branch of mothers of metahumans) a bed and a warm meal for whoever got their first, Hiro had a lot of practice here to talk to the down on their luck and those who lost faith in metahumanity, it lead to better then average social skills. shortly after goblinzing at 15 he got into a bad car accident with a friend and needed new eyes after the glass of the windshield ruined his organics. his family never being flush with nuyen, lead him to work of the debt of his replacement parts in shadow-work to start paying off the debt. and in one lucky job he managed to pay it off, his family not supporting his shadowrunning idea or lifestyle, tried to convince him to get back to the family business. he disagreed and left to Seattle to make it big and find his own truth
