==Summary==<br />
In which the runners assist the [[Ancients]] with stealing a cook book from the [[Cutters]].<br />
<br />
==Background==<br />
The Ancients and the Cutters ongoing feud has been galvanized due to the death of [[Insonia]] at the hands of [[Lichtenberg]] (see: [[Duerme y Pasa a Mejor Vida]] for info). Wishing to hit back, the Ancients hire a crew of runners to strike back at one of the rival gang's fronts.<br />
<br />
==The Meet==<br />
The runners are invited to the Rose of Sharon bar in Tarislar to meet with Mz. Johnson and her associate, who make no attempt to hide that they are members of the Ancients. Mz. Johnson wishes for the runners to steal a "cook book" (of drug recipes) from a "restaurant" (which also sells drugs out the backdoor) in Puyallup City called "Cap'n Cook's" (a Cutters front). Stacy is able to negotiate the pay up from 14k to 16k nuyen, along with the prospect of discount drugs and motorcycles thrown in to entice the team.<br />
<br />
==The Plan==<br />
Reconvening in Puyallup City, Stacy heads inside to scope out the restaurant while Oberon scopes out their physical security and Clown probes the Matrix security - it becomes clear rather quickly that the place is a gang front, so the team decide to take a more subtle approach to things. Stacy is able to gather footage of the interior and establish a rapport with some of the staff, picking up on a few street rumors in the process and getting a few names of those involved, including capturing an image of the eponymous cook so they can be searched out on the Matrix. <br />
<br />
Outside, Oberon sees a group of gangers rolling around and keeping an eye on the place, and in the break between their observations he decides to circle the restaurant and scope out other entrances; while out back picking out places to sneak inside the staff area, he picks up the smell of chemicals underneath the scent of greasy food. Meanwhile Clown hits up the nautical themed host, managing to get inside to look for camera positions and other security devices (several icons turn out to be wrappered, such as gas grenades disguised as cooking implements); he's also able to locate a safe hidden in the kitchen which presumably holds the book they're after.<br />
<br />
==The Run==<br />
A few nights later (Cap'n Cook's is open for business 24/7, so there's always someone on-site), Stacy returns to the restaurant with about a dozen drunken hangers-on who she met at various parties to serve as a distraction for the restaurant staff while Oberon breaks into the kitchen via the back entrance (successfully sneaking past both the ganger patrol and the watcher spirit posted to watch the allyway). Using motion sense, the banshee detects that the cook is still in the kitchen, so Stacy makes a show of calling for "the man whose name is on the place" to come out and share a drink with them - the social adept is able to convince the introverted drug cook to come and share the spotlight, allowing Clown to pop the maglock on the door open and Oberon to slip inside.<br />
<br />
After detecting the trap set up to trigger if the table or safe are tampered with, Clown disables the alarm while Oberon slips under the table and begins working on the lock. Stacy is able to keep the cook and the staff occupied long enough for him to get the safe open, swipe the datachips and the physical recipe book inside, and leave his signature on the inside (as well as one of the gas grenades in the kitchen, because his mentor spirit thinks it's funny). As Oberon makes his escape, Stacy instigates a bar brawl among her drunken entourage and the Cutters to cover his retreat and snickers to herself before leaving out the front; Clown makes sure to leave a very large databomb as a present for the spider as well.<br />

==Aftermath==<br />
Meeting up at an Ancients bar in Loveland, the runners share a laugh with their employers over the various funny jokes played on the Cutters and hand over the both recipe book and the data chips, receiving their promised reward (and a little extra for the data). <br />

Shame about what happened to Insonia, she was good to work with. Which made it nice to work with her gang to hit back at the people responsible. I'd have preferred something a lot... messier (there's a certain irony to eating a cook in his own kitchen), but doing this clean was nice too. Plus I got a cool bike out of it; I'll have to keep an ear to the ground and see if any more work comes of this whole situation between the gangs.</div>Sarcarian
