After a mishap in his senior year, he had burst his eardrums and was kicked out of the school. His parents, already barely able to afford dinner with the expenses of his school, were unable to afford medical care for him until it was too late - it had reached a point of nerve damage. Unable to satisfy his parents' desires for success, he ran away, trashed his old SIN, and slunk into the shadows, content with a death in an alleyway. He managed to survive long enough for a fixer to find him fiddling around with a small bundle of explosives he'd saved (don't ask where or how he got them), and begin introducing him to Shadowrunning. And it's a classic story of attempting to climb to the top from there.
