Unfortunately, that's a life she can't go back to. Four years ago she was kidnapped by a toxic cult that worshipped mutations, malign or benign alike. She was subjected to the cult's mage's practice and experiments as he tried to further twist the metahuman body into the perfect lifeform. She was rescued from the cult eventually by a KE raid, but the damage had been done. She is now a barely functional organism, pushing through day after day in a body that should not work. The only thing that keeps her going is her research, distracting her from the hopelessness of her own situation. Her hope is to eventually get enough corrective surgery to repair her body at least cosmetically so she can return to her old life, but given how much of her money goes right back into work just to keep her new little lab afloat, things look grim.
