			Merle's father was a professor of fictive literature who died in the Renraku Arcology Shutdown. Merle's SIN came in the way of meager compensation to his mother during the Shutdown. Merle's mother named him after some of his father's favorite books. His mother remarried well, landing the Trust Fund that Merle enjoys today.

			Merle grew up on the fringe of privileged corporate life and was, frankly, bored. Emerging at the tail end of high school, he realized that with his new abilities and his fortunate financial situation, higher education and a boring life weren't the only options available to him.

			As far as his mother knows, he works a low level IT job at Renraku and plays Matrix games, wasting his life away. In reality, he has his sights set on using his abilities for excitement and maybe a little bit of good.
