In truth, beyond her vampirism making it difficult to go outside during the day, she has spent much of her life plagued by sickness and frailty, and from the very real threats posed by the outside world, has developed a pathological and debilitating fear of it. <br /> <br /> To work around this fear, and to alleviate the overwhelming loneliness of her solitary lifestyle, she depends on several "daughters", humanlike anthrodrones able to better tolerate the world beyond Juliet's home. Over time, they have become extensions of herself not only physically, but socially, to the point where it's unclear where, exactly, the daughters' hardcoded personalities end and Juliet's own influence begins. To her, they are more than tools, but genuine family members, sharing a bond that many would describe as potentially unhealthy - but, then, Juliet never much was one for good health in the first place. <br /> <br /> Juliet much prefers to stay on the sidelines, keeping watch over her daughters from a distance and providing alchemical aid when necessary.
