==Background==
Astrid was born in Denmark, but was not raised there due to the treatment her family received from those who hated or distrusted "trog" members of society. Fortunately, a family friend who sympathized provided Astrid's family a way to leave and hopefully find somewhere better in Seattle. Of course, they expected some prejudice, but surely it would come with a better chance for raising their daughter properly.

As Astrid grew up, she dealt with a fair amount of prejudice when her parents weren't around. She didn't really seem like she was a "trog" herself, but her parents were obviously trolls, so she was ridiculed all the same. As time went on, Astrid's body underwent some serious changes - especially once puberty hit. She started drastically outgrowing all her friends and the kids her age and even some adults by the time she was 14. The amount of prejudice and mistreatment she received only grew, and this turned Astrid into a sour, angry girl. Her friends started receiving backlash and hate simply for being her friend, but instead of backing off and turning herself into a recluse, Astrid started using her superior size to beat up the other kids who disrespected her and those she cared about.

Surprised by how easy it was to defend her friends, Astrid began to learn proper self-defense methods, and even as she kept growing bigger and bigger, her strength and sturdiness only increased as well. She was known as the "Beserker Kid" because she was easily angered by anyone who treated her or her friends poorly, and the only way she knew how to fight back was to get physical. On one end, anyone she beat up never appeared again, but on the other, this caused social and legal problems for her parents. Astrid's temper grew shorter and shorter as she watched the treatment and downright abuse those around her received. Occasionally, what she sees and hears gets a little too much for her, and she stops, stares into nothing, and practically fumes like a ticking time-bomb about to go off until... it does.

Rather than risk her parents being ousted from the modest lifestyle they managed to make for themselves, Astrid ran away - publically cutting ties with her friends and family, but she would secretly return once in a while to check up on her parents so that they wouldn't worry over their daughter as much.

By the time she was a young adult, Astrid was twice the size of pretty much everyone else and dwarfed everyone - including other trolls. She had no horns, but her size and the rough, protective skin she had all over her body was enough to make trog doctors conclude she had the genes of the Giants - scandinavian people of great stature. It made sense since she was from Denmark - one of the few locations Giants hailed from.

Making use of her strength and stature, Astrid joined various gangs in her earliest adult life - most of them were decent, honorable gangs that spent time beating up other gangs that would exploit the poor and helpless. This wasn't enough for Astrid, though. As she had grown up and watched what happened around her, she realised that so many people were being exploited, oppressed, and killed or beaten up by more than just the gangs, but also the Corps and the Government themselves, and she felt she needed to do something.

When she felt ready, Astrid became a Shadowrunner - taking on the name "Skjaldmær" for herself - in honor of the great Shieldmaiden warrior-women of her ancient viking heritage. In order to make the lives of her friends and family and community as a whole better, Astrid will do just about anything, but she won't ever take from the poor or steal from those who would use their wealth and technology for the true betterment of those in need.

Tall and athletic with surprisingly soft features for a giant (though still obviously with the giant skin for the most part. "Punkish" Style to match her metalhead rocker tendencies. Dyes her hair multiple colors - both as self-expression and an inside joke since her mood seems to be "multiple colors" at any given time.
