	Born and raised in Seattle, Jason Whittacker awoke when the Dragonslayer tapped him on the shoulder, commanding him into the night to hunt the monsters that hide there. Unfortunately for him, that occurred after having been in the wrong place at the wrong time - an interrupted vampire feeding. The newly minted adept found himself moving with speeds never thought of before, though he was unable to save the child before it passed. 			That was five years ago.

			Five years ago, he was unable to save anyone, let alone himself. A no-one kid from nowhere, it wasn't until the Dragonslayer laid his blessings upon him that he found the beginning of his skill in blades and his ability to find and ferret out shadow spirits and the darker things on the astral plane. During one of his earlier run ins, holding his own but more or less outclassed, he met Anna Van Der Pelt who took the young adept under her wing. His naivete, further, allowed her to steer him towards projects and tasks that, as his training and magical powers and aptitude deepened, furthered her own goals. Knowing that the surest way to break her new toy would be to send George on the wrong kinds of jobs, Van Der Pelt opted to save him for obvious hooder runs, monster hunts, and the like.

			If nothing else, she makes money and the world has fewer monsters; but make no mistake, she is manipulating him to her own ends. After one or two run ins with infected like [[Blackhawk]], George has realized that not all of them are monsters and some, in fact, hunt those monsters as well. With a few solid hooding runs and a few less shadow spirits, Van Der Pelt felt her new shadow hunter was ready to enter the Haven.
