However, a great spirit that had taken refuge with the magic of the river grew angry with Shakti for her taboo and cursed her with a mark that would tell others of its kind that she was not to be trusted. To make matters worse, the sheer concentration of mana within the river caused Shakti's form to be further twisted away from that of her people, and her "Curse of Kali" grew more prominent as her body transfigured more profoundly. In addition, her body seemed to take on some aspects of spiders - perhaps due to her admiration and spiritual appreciation of them - as she found her teeth sharpen to fangs that dripped a venom she dared not use on anyone.
