Sometime in the past, none really know when, a lone nightmare spirit got trapped on the Metaplane of Man. No-one knows how he ended up there, but over time he began adjusting to his surroundings. What at first was inhumane greed and horror began filling a more humane mold. While still prone to mutation and volatile, Pump King Jack is an anomalous middle ground of shadow and man-spirits. His innate thirst to cause and spread terror in his victims has taken a turn, spurred on by his belief that by terrifying people to their very core he's giving their lives meaning. Without sorrow, there is no joy. Without fear, there is no security. Everything must have its opposite and Jack couldn't be happier to be the boogeyman that the Sixth World should check for under their beds before going to sleep. To this end, he's begun eyeing Halloweeners for adoption as his personal pupils in the art of fear. Jack's end game is to create a never-ending all year long Halloween across the entire planet where fear is something to be celebrated and terror will only fuel the joy of everyday life.

This new entity swore to never enter the physical realm of mortals again for those that saved him from destruction, but that doesn't mean he can't occasionally carry some influence! By carving a jack-o-lantern into a spooky smile, lighting a wax candle inside of it and singing Jack's favorite song aloud with thoughts of him on the caller's mind, Jack can manifest partially by causing a temporary astral shallow. It is with this little calling ritual that he intends to spice up some people's Halloween holidays in the future -- if he can't visit in person, he'll at least give them a good show!

Overview

The fearsome shadow spirit known as Pump King Jack was inevitably driven into a corner and destroyed, but he did not depart without leaving behind a legacy. A minuscule seed of humanity bloomed from his exposure to so much of the Metaplane of Man that gradually fed on his interactions with metahumanity. While he never truly changed, the influences of the sleeping metastasizing spirit within him changed him for the better. In the end, he chose to discard it and gave birth to the Jack some few know today.
