Summary

Kate is a former CAS Navy SEAL. She came from a military family. She is proud, but feels like she lives in her father's shadow. She left South Carolina soon after her discharge to make her own name in the world. Her service career was exemplary, but her father was an Admiral and he often overshadows her.
Her old callsign was "Starlight". She was originally the only female in SEAL Team 8, and some PO3 made the mistake of saying she was "Pretty as starlight", which earned him a punch in the mouth. Unfortunately, the joke stuck and so did the name.
Kate is a warrior born. She specializes in tactical insertions, amphibious ops, diving and underwater demolitions. Her marksmanship skills are excellent. In the Teams, she was notorious for her propensity to blow things up, or at least try to. Recently she has developed her physical combat skills and now prefers melee combat. Kate is a skill monkey. She can throw dice on almost any active skill, and knows a surprising amount of knowledge skills. She possesses decent hacking skills.
Kate is not awakened, but possesses more knowledge than most mages. She has deep resources to call on to deal with these threats, and can often surprise her foes with her knowledge.
Kate serves the Great Form Guidance Spirit Teldragon. She promised to assist him in his endeavors regarding the Horned God. Kate recently engaged in a temporary power pact with him. She has performed the Assensing, Divination, and Psychometry skills and powers at an effective magic 14.
Alice Kane and Bautista both know that she is an HMHVV carrier. Alice is her personal cybersurgeon, and Kate pays the premium to make sure everything is safe and OK with her operations.
Kate has Grey Mana tattoos on her back. Rating 3.
Kate is a Consummate Professional. Once she gives her word, she doesn't easily break it. Only rarely has this been done, and only for the right reasons.
Kate has been told by Pumpkin King Jack to stay away from Sophocles during the month of October.
Kate has a certain distaste for FLR individuals. You don't need metal limbs to be great. That's only cheating.
Kate is a member of the Huk who directly reports to Bautista. She doesn't care that much about smuggling and piracy, but does firmly believe in their fight against the IJS. She serves as a courier, contact, and Shadowrunner. Kate is sworn to Masaru and to all his ambitions and goals. Hans Brachkaus has tried convincing her to work for him instead, but Kate will not break her word. And she believes in Masaru's goals.

Starshatter
Kate wields a masterfully hand forged claymore. She spends part of each day training with it, and it has since become an extension of herself. The sword was forged by Onotari Arms in Germany and shipped to her. A little incentive from S-K to pay her back, and show her who she should really be working for. It was an "anonymous" gift from one Hans Brackhaus. The hilt is leather over black wood, with a steel cross-guard. The blade is made of a proprietary Onotari Arms tool steel alloy resistant to corrosion and breaking. The blade is almost a pure silver-white, and catches the light easily. On the blade is an inscription written in German, "Die stärksten Klingen werden mit Drachenfeuer geschmiedet". The sword itself stands 1.4 meters tall, and Kate has a tendency to use it more akin to an axe than a sword due to it's sheer size and weight.
Goals
Kate is an established Shadowrunner. Her results speak for themselves. While she is not the strongest, not the toughest, and not the smartest, she combines all three traits into one person. To this end she trains and trains to improve her edge. She isn't FLR, isn't Awakened or Emerged, but trains and fights to beat such foes.
Kate is learning Kunst Des Fechtens in her off time. She also wants to learn certain Kenjutsu techniques and apply them both as her own style. Kate is a newer member of the Vigilant Iron Schooling House in Redmond.
She seeks to meet new people and make new allies in the world. Especially magical allies. She has a valuable resource in Teldragon, but more knowledge is better.
Background
Kate was born in Charleston, South Carolina. Her father was an Admiral in the CAS Navy and former Captain of an SSVN, and her mother served in the CAS Airforce. Kate joined the CAS Navy when she was 17. Initially, she signed up as a Navy Diver, but her high aptitude and technical skills opened up more dangerous jobs. She volunteered for the SEALs when she was 19, completing training a year later.
She once got to participate in a PR exchange program where she and 11 others went to Moscow for 3 months. She learned new fighting styles from the Red Army, and picked up some specialized skills there.
When she was 29, she became infected with HMHVV III. Her team boarded a vessel that had gone dark off the coast of Virginia. Turns out everyone onboard was a ghoul. Out of 8 SEALS that went in, 2 came out. Her PO1, who was fine, and Kate, who had been exposed. She fought off the infection but became a carrier. It made her sort of a pariah, but allowed her to become more specialized, being able to fight those infected with the Krieger Strain without the risk of consequence.
She had a long and prestigious career in the Navy. She achieved the rank of PO1, retiring after 20 years of service. Her constant desire to strive for greatness led her to acquire more and more cyber and bioware. She has sculpted her body to have many subtle but important enhancements. Anything she lacks she makes up for with her skills and training.
She moved to Seattle after this to work as a civilian contactor. A friend who moved there said she might find work. Initially she thought to contract to the UCAS Navy, but found them annoying to work for. Plus they didn't seem to like her due to her previous employment in the CAS Navy. She receives a pension from the Navy, but donates 100% of it to a charity fund dedicated to wounded and disabled soldiers and veterans. She doesn't even count this income as hers at this point.
She soon discovered the life of Shadowrunning to supplement her income. Plus she wanted the excitement since civilian life is so boring.
Narrative Significant Qualities
Positive
Agile Defender - Those ballet and gymnastics lessons her father made her take, plus years of training, make Kate quite light on her feet.
Battle Hardened - Kate is a soldier. Even if she has been discharged, you don't lose the attitude.
Biocompatability(Cyberware) - Kate has had augmentation since she was 18. Her first set of muscle replacement was done immediately after SEAL training.
Candle in the Darkness - Honor is a rare thing in the sixth world. General empathy is even more uncommon. Kate holds her values close, and those around her know they can depend on her to do the right thing.
Common Sense - Kate always had good common sense. It has saved her life more than once.
Guts - Kate is fearless, but not reckless. She can sometimes be overconfident, but always keeps her head in tough situations.
Jack of All Trades, Master of None - Kate has been dabbling in just about everything. This, coupled with her ADHD, will probably make it easier to learn things, but difficult to master them.
Jury Rigger - Kate is smart. She always has been. She can make some of the toughest tasks feel trivial, and she does her best work under pressure.
Made Man - The Huk - Kate finally took Bautista up on his offer, and became one of his agents in Seattle. She isn't a smuggler, but She is a Shadowrunner. And that has value.
Prototype Materials - Custom Jabberwock bone grips really add to her gun's flair. And the special parts as part of the S-K reward help out too. The bone was a part Screech gnawed on, specifically.
Rad-Tolerant - Too many trips to Glow City has made Kate pretty resistant to radiation. This isn't necessarily a good thing...
Resistant to Pathogens and Toxins - Kate has a pretty hardy constitution from her military service, and years of eating bad food.
Reverberant - Kate has had a knack for understanding and using technology. There appears to be more than meets the eye with her abilities.
Sensei - Kate took to the blade and is an avid student. But she saw the opportunity to learn from a master, and is taking personal lessons from Nameless
Shoot First, Don't Ask - Kate is trained in close quarters combat and infiltration, providing her with the experience to handle surprising situations.

Tough as Nails (Stun) I - Kate takes a lot of hits. She doesn't have metal limbs to depend on, so she relies on her natural toughness.
Toughness - Taking all these shots for other people makes you stronger.
Vehicle Empathy - 108 Octane runs in Kate's blood. Her reflexes outside rigging are rarely matched.

Addiction(Mild) Kamikaze - Man that stuff is good. A little too good maybe?
Carrier (HMHVV III) - Kate became infected when she was 29. She fought off the virus, but became a carrier.
Code of Honor - Akichita Code - Kate follows the values of honor popular in the NaN. One of her favorite places outside of Seattle is LA, and her frequent time spent there has led her to adopt some of the values they hold.

No Man Left Behind - It had taken this long for a fellow Runner to not make it out. The effect on Kate was profound. We all know the job is dangerous, but when it happened it really put it in perspective. Kate will make sure it doesn't happen again.

Appearance
Tattoos and Scars
She bears numerous small scars from her service, but one stands out. A jagged claw scar extends from the base of her neck to her shoulder. This is where a ghoul grabbed her and cut along the top plate of her armor through the Kevlar. It healed, but left a very prominent scar. This can be seen if she wears a t-shirt. It can just barely be seen over the collar of an armored jacket or dress coat.
Kate has numerous tattoos as well. She has a full right sleeve that's very much CAS and military inspired. She has a SEAL trident on the back of her neck, but low enough to be concealed by a collard shirt. She also has a lunging shark on her left arm.
Kate recently had Grey Mana Tattoos done on her back in the form of a large shark. The tail starts just above her butt, curves up her back, and over her right shoulder. The shark's jaws open just under her collarbones. This makes it so it is visually hidden wearing clothes, but as with all grey mana tattoos, awakened can see it for what it is.
Clothing
Kate is a tall, fit former CAS Navy SEAL.
She typically wears a knee length black and silver armor jacket over a long sleeve shirt. She wears black pants and black custom Lonestar Bates combat boots. Her jacket has the image of a black and blue dragon on the back and the words “Hukbong Bayan” on the top across her shoulders.
She typically carries her Cavalier Evanator, Victorinox blades, tricked out commlink, drug injectors, BTLs, and assorted normal everyday things on her person wherever she goes.
Kate in SWAT Armor looks like a typical military Special Operator. She wears a small CAS flag patch on her right shoulder, and a small black dragon with white horns and the letters "H-U-K" on the other shoulder. Loaded out, she carries a custom FN-HAR and rotary grenade launcher on slings, with microgrenades and ammunition strapped to her rig. She wears a low profile backpack filled with tools and supplies, and usually carries a few kilos of C4 with her. She also sports a very large claymore across her back.
Kate wears her old CAS dog tags everywhere. She breaks this habit only in certain situations. In addition to the two that are normally there, she has a red one that says "CARRIER" on one side, and "HMHVV III" on the other.
