Summary

The runners delve deeper into the goings-on in Forks, this time helping the medical clinic there recover some stolen supplies (and people). They are able to interrupt the meet between the gang that conducted the hijacking and their employers, successfully rescuing the stolen goods and drivers.

Background

With the recent attacks near Forks, the local medical clinic has ordered extra supplies from Olympia to ensure that they are able to save any victims that manage to survive, both out of medical obligation, and in hopes of being able to get information about who is behind the attacks. However, the delivery is intercepted by a small-time go-gang on behalf of the enigmatic Rusty.

The Meet

The Johnson, paranoid about losing the runners on their way to Forks as well as the drivers, organised a bus for them to make the journey. While it was a mostly quiet trip, they were interrupted by a trap laid in the road, a jammer that disabled the bus's pilot and allowed a drone to capture footage of the runners while they were trying to get the bus moving again. Once the drone was caught, it self-destructed, and the runners were eventually able to find and destroy the jammer, and got back on the move.

The meet was quick as the Johnson was nervous and the job was urgent. She pointed the runners to Lake Crescent as the site where the van was attacked.

The Plan

The runners made it to the site without more incident and found the van, off the road and half-submerged in the lake, the drivers and supplies missing. Digging into one of the cameras that was still functioning, Bunny Hop was able to read its feed, seeing the gang's attack several hours before, and then an unknown figure shoving the van into the lake much more recently.

With the camera feed, the runners were able to determine that the gang had taken the drivers and supplies to Pyramid Mountain on the north side of the lake, and made their way there. On the mountain, they found a fire lookout tower that the remnants of the gang was occupying.

The Run

A more diplomatic solution was attempted first, trying to scare the gangers into standing down, but ultimately their numbers advantage and misplaced confidence led them to stand their ground, which exploded into a short brawl when Triage's spirit materialised. However, the runners' superior skills allowed them to easily defeat the gang and the earth elemental and drone that showed up not long after the fight started.

Aftermath

Once the gang were dealt with, the runners were easily able to secure the supplies and the drivers, who were mostly uninjured, and get them back to the clinic.

"Guess they call him 'Rusty' because that's how all his deckers are~ Anyway, Johnson was sketch but it all worked out I guess. You gotta start getting me better gigs, Anhe... Eh!? No, I don't care if you're 'too invested to quit reading now', I'm tired of the woods dammit!"

Triage

Is Forks haunted? I swear to god that every time I go there I get stranded in the woods. Anyways, had to solve a kidnapping case, turns out the culprit is apparently FRAGGING RUSTY again. That's my theory, at least, as the gangers were calling their Johnson "Mr. Creepy" and then the Johnson tossed a van into the lake. So you know, vampire drek. Bhop was a delight to work with again, as she is both incredibly skilled and surprisingly pleasant to be around for a shadowrunner. Conduit was a bit chatty, but it was certainly nice to work with someone who shows kami the proper respect for once. Mudrock is... worryingly enthusiastic about inflicting violence.

I need to figure out whats going on with this fragging "Rusty" character. Maybe I could hire some of the matrix slingers on the Haven to help me with research.
