Notes to self

  • Include source references at end of paragraphs so people know where to go to read more, or to check what is said.
  • Emphasize that reagents are different things, you don't buy 5 dram cubes. Even the standard of reagents, Orichalcum, is a thing.

What are Reagents

Reagents are the remnants of magic captured by animals and objects. The Awakened can use reagents in a number of ways to make their magic easier or give it more oomph. An alchemist can purify reagents to make them more potent, though they can only do this twice and every ten reagents are distilled down to only one after the process.

Types of Reagents

Reagents come in three types, based on their purity.

Raw reagents are as harvested and are the least pure. An example is a set of toadstools that grew on the site of an astral rift. These reagents are raw, as is after harvesting from the field.

Reagents are purified and distilled by alchemists using alchemical lab equipment. Refined reagents are produced by an alchemist distilling the raw reagents in their lab,a process that works on a batch of at least ten reagents over at least ten hours. Every ten raw reagents can produce one refined reagent. [SG 210]
