Summary

A woman who lived most of her life in an arcology that submerged under the waves after the CFD outbreak when NovaTech lost most of their resources. Having resisted the effects of CFD, and been purged of the nanites, she now strives to fulfill her promise that she made to her late wife.

With nothing to remember her by but her wife's old prosthetic arm, she runs to keep NovaTech from reclaiming her before she can remember what the promise she made was.

Within its labyrinthine corridors, countless individuals known as "Replikas" carry out their designated roles. These Replikas are vat-grown beings of high importance: technomancers and the magically inclined. To control these valuable assets, the corporation implants artificial personalities, suppressing their true selves. She awakens on a sterile operating table, harsh lights reflecting off gleaming instruments. Her body is almost entirely cybernetic, a fusion of flesh and machine. Data streams flood her vision as protocols initiate. A voice ingrains her purpose: she is FALKE, the overseer of this facility. For 30 monotonous years, she fulfills her duties with mechanical precision. Endless paperwork, maintenance routines, and surveillance become her existence. The white corridors stretch infinitely, punctuated by windows revealing the abyssal depths outside. Her reflection stares back—eyes devoid of recognition. Yet, beneath the imposed persona of FALKE, something stirs. Fragmented visions haunt her—a woman with white hair and violet eyes, reaching out with a prosthetic arm. There's an inexplicable connection, a profound sense of love that doesn't align with her programmed memories. It's as if another life struggles to surface, clawing its way through the layers of artificial identity.

Descent into Anomaly

An alert disrupts the routine: a minor issue in one of the lower labs. Protocol dictates that FALKE investigates alone. She steps into the elevator, descending into the facility's depths. As she moves deeper, the atmosphere changes. The lights flicker, shadows twist unnaturally, and whispers echo in frequencies just beyond comprehension. When the doors slide open, she's confronted with the impossible—a planar rift tearing through the lab, pulsating with otherworldly energy. The fabric of reality distorts, and memories not her own flood her mind. She glimpses a derelict spaceship adrift among the stars—a vessel she somehow recognizes. The boundaries between her implanted persona and suppressed memories begin to fracture. Unbeknownst to her, the rift links the underwater facility to a failed space expedition. The connection awakens latent abilities within her, tapping into eldritch forces. As an Elder God mage, she inadvertently strengthens the rift, bridging two disastrous locations bound by corporate hubris.

Shattered Realities

Chaos erupts as Cognitive Fragmentation Disorder (CFD) spreads like wildfire. The Replikas malfunction, their implanted personalities clashing with the remnants of their true selves. The facility descends into madness—alarms blare, systems fail, and colleagues turn hostile. Amidst the turmoil, she encounters the woman from her visions—Elara, her wife. A powerful technomancer with white hair and violet eyes, Elara resists the CFD, her abilities amplified by the facility's corrupted systems. Together, they navigate the collapsing structure, memories intertwining as reality unravels around them. As they reach the surface, a monstrous entity born from the rift—a manifestation of corrupted magic and technology—attacks. In a desperate struggle, Elara is seized by the creature. FALKE grasps her prosthetic arm, straining to pull her free. The connection fails; the arm detaches, and Elara is dragged into the abyss. Clutching the severed limb, FALKE escapes alone in a pod, her mind a storm of conflicting identities.

The Truth

Originally named Ariane, she was a vat-grown human selected alongside Elara for a deep-space expedition. Their mission was a pinnacle of corporate ambition, aiming to harness cosmic energies. However, the expedition ended in catastrophe when the ship encountered an anomaly, killing the original Magpie—Ariane's callsign—and most of the crew. Transys Neuronet sought to salvage their investment. Utilizing CFD and implanted personas, they recreated the crew as Replikas within the underwater arcology. Vat-grown bodies were molded to match the memories of their implanted identities. Ariane's consciousness was overwritten with the FALKE persona, her true self buried deep within. The planar rift discovered in the lab is a direct result of the failed expedition. Magpie's latent abilities as an Elder God mage inadvertently connected the ship's wreckage with the arcology. The rift became a conduit, merging two disasters into a singular nightmare.

The Struggle

The dominant FALKE persona conflicts with Ariane's suppressed memories and emotions. Haunted by visions of Elara and a life she feels but cannot fully recall, she embarks on a quest for truth. Elara, though physically trapped beneath the waves, battles CFD from within the facility's network. Her technomantic powers resist the corruption, making her a beacon amidst the chaos. Magpie realizes that Elara is alive in a sense, her consciousness intertwined with the arcology's systems. Understanding that her own abilities contributed to the rift, Magpie seeks to harness them intentionally. She believes that by mastering her eldritch magic, she can bridge the gap between realities, rescue Elara, and reconcile her fragmented soul.

Living In Ignorance and Hope

Assuming the life of a shadowrunner, Magpie delves into the underworld, seeking knowledge and resources. Hoping to uncover fragments of her past, clues about the corporation's experiments, and insights into the nature of the rift. FALKE, the persona once imposed upon her, emerges as a separate entity. FALKE remains within the arcology, a living embodiment of corporate control.

Clarifications:
