Summary
In meatspace, Alderic is a silver-tongued debonair man with Old World flair. A charming conversationalist and incorrigible flirt, Alderic has a penchant for persuasion and knack for subterfuge that makes him ideal in all aspects of social infiltration. Within the Matrix, however, he is Reynard! The trickster fox who prefers it loud, flashy and fast! Who needs whisper-quiet hacks when you can hit ‘em right where it hurts?
Goals
- Build war chest of Nuyen, dirty laundry and connections to rise within Espirit Industries
- Burn blackmail built up on him
- Bribe the right people to get sent back to France
Background
The family tree of House Chalons is ancient; its roots run deep into the soil of history, during the Age of Capet and Angevin, when loyalty to liege was more important than loyalty to land. Though the House never became anything more than a local power, time and adversity had not tarnished Chalon’s luster. When the Fifth World gave way to the Sixth, House Chalons adapted with the capricious whimsy of fate and attached itself to the Thales Corporation, which eventually melded into the Megacorporate entity Espirit Industries. The bigger fish eating the little fish, c’est la vie.
The Rota Fortunae turns.
It was into this world that Alderic was born. I will not bore you with the minutia of his upbringing, for there is precious little to be said that is notable; he was a nobleman’s son, a flower of the corporation. Intelligent, charming and possessing of a natural skill with electronics, Alderic’s life was carefully mapped and plotted into a position befitting his station, a golden cog in the byzantine machine. A tragic yachting accident upon the River Seine cost him his arm, but the replacement was every bit as capable as the old flesh, modified in the baroque fashion that had begun to see a resurgence in the French nation. He lived, he loved, and he eventually found himself a place in middle-management, and a place in the eyes of the nation as a media darling, the apprentice of Herbet de Vaucanson with all that entails.
The Rota Fortunae turns.

The Rota Fortunae turns, and who’s to say where it will land next?
Narrative Significant Qualities
Positive
- Fame (National)
A minor nobleman who rubbed shoulders with the likes of Herbert de Vaucanson, Alderic has something of a reputation in his home country of France, where he is seen as an up-and-comer with ambition tempered by talent.
- Linguist
The best way to impress a client is to speak to them in their mother tongue. Obvious advice, and one woefully rare in this age of linguasofts and translat-ears. Alderic is a true polyglot, a fluent speaker of several languages with nary an (unintentional) accent to tarnish their use.
- Photographic Memory / Speed Reading
Though his tongue may be silver, his mind is steel. Reynard is not one to forget a fact - something he will be swift to remind you of - and when he scours over the written word there is little that will not be consumed.
Negative
- Day Job 20/hr (Financial Analyst)
His entire reason for being in Seattle, Alderic is ostensibly a "financial analyst" for Aztechnology.
- SINner (Corporate
Alderic's pedigree is stamped with an Espirit Industries seal of quality. Though he may see Espirit Industries as a stepping-stone to further greatness, the thought of outright betrayal is out of the question. He is, for better or worse, a child of the Megacorporation.
- Did You Just Call Me Dumb?
When Alderic rubs someone the wrong way, he will do so in a very dramatic fashion. Verbosity can be seen as pomposity, confidence as arrogance, it isn't hard to see him as an upjumped blue-blood dripping with that "holier than thou" attitude so despised by all below the salt. Whether it's the Fifth World or the Sixth, people hate an asshole.
- Social Appearance Anxiety
Something of a dandy, Reynard feels uncomfortable when he is not wearing something fashionable.
Run History
There was an empty space here, it's gone now.

Appearance
Thin, graceful and handsome, Alderic is a prime specimen of fine noble breeding. His limbs are well-proportioned, his russet hair short and defined by a widow’s peak, his high cheekbones and angular jaw serve to accentuate an aquiline nose and large, clever green eyes. His voice is warm and welcoming, a velvet tenor richly accented with a smooth timbre that harkens to the romantic vision of his homeland.
Matrix Persona
An extremely animated (and over-friendly) Red Fox
