Summary
In which the dynamic duo of Brook and Flamenca take down an up and coming "gang". This gang is, in fact, just Juan Ramirez funding some cronies to be his personal entourage.
Background
Juan "Sticky" Ramirez is a corp kid tourist of middling importance. He's been trying to make a gang on the outskirts of Touristville for the last few months. He's recruited a coked-out wage mage to be his second in command, the inimitable Mad Marty. Lately, though, they've made a serious mistake. Ramirez killed a member of Skrachaa while on a bender in the Ork Underground! For this, he will pay dearly. Killing him isn't worth the kickback, though, we don't want HTR coming down and escalating further. A slap on the wrist and the destruction of his little play house will have to suffice.
The Meet
The runners are called in last minute by Big Donny for some assistance. He's in Touristville at an autobody shop, getting his truck looked at. He leads the ladies inside, offering them horrible workplace coffee and giving a little background on the situation. The deal is simple, destroy this gang, but don't kill Ramirez. They happily accept.
The Plan
The team plans to do a sort of pincer maneuver, with Brook taking the frontal assault and Flamenca hiding at first. They buff up with some pharmaceuticals and head down the street. The team waits just a bit for the sun to finish setting, better for the surprise attack, Brook says, though she's really intended to alleviate her infected headache.
The Run
At the end of this half-ruined residential street, there is an old garage of sorts, with a half dozen ganger types sitting out front. It's Sticky, Flamenca can tell, and his goons. They're working on some motorcycles, day drinking, and getting high. Flamenca heads up onto the roof of a nearby building, while Brook walks down the main street in full view. The gangers call out to her in various rude fashions. She approaches, calling out to Ramirez and condemning him for his stupidity and his crimes both. Tensions flare, she activates her magical abilities, and we enter initiative.
Combat is long, and much lead is tossed from one side to the next. Sticky himself is the real threat, managing a few solid shots. Overall, Flamenca is taking some good chip damage here and there, while Brook is only taking minimal blows. They're both powerhouses, though, and this low caliber fire isn't much to them. Sticky pulls out his 'trump card', a middling mage with a single water spirit. They try some tricky things-- astral combat, mana bind, invisibility-- but it's no use. Eventually, the goons are dispersing, Sticky goes down, and Mad Marty dives for cover beneath a pile of trash.
The duo burns the place down and leaves it in ruin.
Aftermath
Donny is very pleased with their success, inviting them back for their pay and a friendly word. He shares a little bit of his background, and ensures the runners that they did some good clean work, and he'll spread the word about them as a result.
