Summary

A piasma has made a home not too far North of Buck's place and done some real damage to people and camps in the area. The folks from up there come looking for assistance with the unknown threat that is wrecking havoc at night.

Background

Buck's neighbor eugene a few kilometers north over the Skyomish river comes into town once every month or two to trade book meat for produce and other wild game. He comes with several other folks from the far northern reaching of the barely-even-seattle-anymore sprawl to ask for help as Buck is usually the most dangerous thing in the neighborhood.

The Meet

A bunch of crusty North Seattle/West SSC refugees make their way to bucks door to get him a little drunk and ask for some help.

Buck feels his spirit mentor on the fringes of his consciousness.

The Plan

Buck reached out to Cairn for information, who was more than happy to cash in his chip with a handful of information about the likelihood of Piasma and what Buck could expect, as well as passing on a message from Buck's often silent mentor spirit.

Buck decided to take the straightforward approach, take some meat out to the center of the attack zone, create a campsite, and lure in his prey.

The Run

Buck got a strong impression from The Great Warden(Eagle) as well as Cairn that the Warden would communicate more directly given the opportunity, so maybe try some of the drugs the folks asking for help brought along. Buck ate the equivalent of a Loco (Psyche+Red Mescaline combo) sitting out the worst of the disorientation before heading out to take care of business.

Buck parked his Morgan across the skyomish river and jumped most of the river in one leap, avoiding a nasty awakened fish lurking in the depths and catching tail end of it on his way in.

Buck set up makeshift camp and set a piece of meat out on a spit, then hid nearby hoping to lure the beast in the last of the day's light to get an advantage due to its allergy, and due to a shockingly successful survival role does exactly that.

Buck lost track of time due to the loco and stayed hidden in the brush watching the colors and designs of his drug trip until he felt the golden light of his mentor standing behind him. Asking "Why the little druid didn't come to this part of the borderlands so often?" Buck gave an acceptable answer in that he was trying, and had come today to solve a problem for the community. "Remember, a druid of man must become the apex predator in his region, to keep the rest safe." Sending him forward to the task. The catlike Piasma failed to sneak up on Buck who drew a bead on it and then stepped on a twig, alerting it to his presence but not exactly location.

Buck go the drop and shot first, connecting square in the head but missing the brain, cracking through the bony armor of the giant troll-like bear. The Piasma rapidly charging after him and just barely missing a grazing swipe at his face, Buck unloaded on the creature that may have been stronger and tougher, but was not faster than him at the end of the day.

The Piasma, with its dying energy lurched forward, did a bevvy of grazing violence and collapsed on top of the runner. It took some time but Buck managed to extricate himself from the bar, cut its head off, and collapse on top of it exhausted for about an hour to get the mental focus to get back to society.

He trudged through the woods, a feeling of deep satisfaction from his mentor creeping over him and took the head back to his house where Eugene and company were waiting. Upon seeing the Piasma head, Eugene informs buck that there's a decent bounty on them in the SSC lands and offers to take the body in for a small cut.

Buck happily agrees to get paid at all on this mess, after he makes sure the elf wasn't screwing with his garden.

Aftermath

One dead Piasma. A neighborhood that will probably bang on Buck's door again.
