I'm glad that the others went along with me when I brought up turning the necklace over to the Draco Foundation. I know that Nib was in a bad spot since the J recognized them from their fame, so I'm glad that Maria was able to keep us safe while we were able to do the right thing.

Summary

Nib, Handler, and Quoth are hired by a less than well-meaning Johnson to steal a necklace from a curio shop in Tacoma. After finding out the necklace is tied to blood magic, they decide to contact Handler's connection in the Draco Foundation. They delivered the ruby to her and were payed a sizable bounty for their work. The Johnson was betrayed but to the benefit of the greater good. The Draco Foundation promises to protect the crew while they lie low.

Background

The employer of the Johnson recently found that one of their prized foci had been stolen. They tracked the ruby to Obsidian Relics in Tacoma and hired the three runners to get it back

The Meet

The three runners met with the Johnson on the evening of Friday, November 15th, 2085. A thunderstorm rages on across the sprawl, dousing the streets and rooftops above. They met at the Ashen Leaf Teahouse, an upscale restaurant tucked away in the alleys of the Tacoma. They meet the Johnson in a private booth and get down to discussing biz. From the moment they all met, the runners felt something off about the man. They discovered he has a ring with Orichalcum engravings of an Aztech letter for M. After getting a paid dinner in chili oil dumplings, the Johnson departs, leaving the crew in the private booth to conduct their legwork.

The Plan

The plan was simple. Recon, both on the astral plane with Nib, and physical with Quoth. The two scouted and realized that the amulet was more than just a mere trinket. It was positively surrounded with dread, causing a background count of 3 aspected towards ritual sacrifice. After sneaking in through the roof, Quoth discovered three guardian spirits protecting it. Everyone eventually returned to the tea house. They then left for a Matrix cafe down the street where the Johnson wouldn't have eyes and ears. Unfortunately, they were followed by car and then by fly spy. Luckily they had mind link. Nib decided she would be the one to nab the necklace so Handler summoned a Force 10 spirit to conceal her. Quoth would run distraction. they determined that the necklace should stay out of the hands of the Johnson. Hander remembered an old contact of hers in the Draco Foundation named Moria, who specialized in tracking Blood Mages. She determined that the Johnson was none other than Professor Modecai Herrick, a known blood mage and associate of Aztechnology execs. The crew decided that they were going to deliver the amulet to Moria's office in Downtown by traveling the Ork Underground from Tacoma's entrance.

The Run

Now comes the execution. Quoth pecked at the door and eventually got the store owner's attention, making him believe that he was his mentor spirit finally choosing him for a greater purpose. While that was going on, Nib snuck in and grabbed the amulet. She immediately felt the dread of a hundred damned souls lost to the blade a blood mage ritual. She overcame the dread and pushed through, putting it in her bag. Handler provided aerial support and air lifted Nib out of the area. They traveled underground and made their way to the Draco Foundation offices where they met with Moria. She offered them a sizable bounty as well as protection form the Johnson's attempts at retribution.

Aftermath

With the necklace out of the hands of M. Herrick, the team accepted the payment from the Draco Foundation and went their separate ways. Thanks to the organization, the Johnson was too busy fighting legal battles to focus on revenge. Though, he might try again at a later date when the coast is clear.

Handler

I'm glad that the others went along with me when I brought up turning the necklace over to the Draco Foundation. I know that Nib was in a bad spot since the J recognized them from their fame, so I'm happy that Maria was able to keep us safe while we were able to do the right thing.
