GM Style Sheet
Played a lot of Shadowrun back in the old 1st and 2nd edition days but skipped over 3rd and 4th edition. Came back and started playing and running 5th edition. Game wise I prefer to run games as puzzles, I'm fine if players want to try to brute force their way through them but that's usually the hardest path to success. Instead I like to set games up so that the legwork can be used to significantly lower the threat if the the time and effort is put into finding the ways around the main threat. I also favor repeat Johnsons who have particular styles of jobs to hopefully help inform players up front the type of run that they'll be going on, some Johnsons will favor strict professionals, some Johnsons might run silly runs. A particular Johnson might be a straight shooter, where another one plays things close to the vest and tries to trick runners into doing things they don't necessarily expect.
I generally expect players at my table to:
- I prefer for runners to not walk away at the meet, but I'm fine with runners walking if they get into a run and get in over their head.
- I'm ok with PVP but only consensual PVP and only PVP that is not going to overly derail the run. My definition of consensual PVP does not mean you get to antagonize another runner the entire run, and then say "I don't consent to PVP" when they runner comes back at you.
- That being said I do not tolerate out of character PVP at all. If you have a problem with another player I'm happy to help you work through it but we're not derailing the game for out of character sniping at each other, nor do I tolerate people taking out of character animosity in character, I expect everyone to at least behave like adults out of character.
- I like to explore the dark dystopian elements of shadowrun, but usually leave it at implying some of the darker stuff. I will put warnings on games that will be going into these sorts of topics in the job posts to the best of my ability.
- Pointing out or correcting a rule during play is fine, but in order to keep the pace going rulings may need to be made on the fly so we can move on, I do expect players to accept rulings and move forward rather than drag the game to a halt arguing.
