Background
Born in San Angelo< Texas, Meche lived a quiet, uneventful childhood. Her father was a man man who idealized a unified American States and the Wild West era of history, the latter being a love he imparted to his young daughter. Her mother kept to herself and seldom left the house, but kept her ties to her Hispanic heritage so Meche would know her family's culture and language. In grade school she became acquainted with one Travis Sunderland, at which point they became fast friends, becoming nearly inseparable. At 14, Meche found awoken as an adept when she tired out a local bully by dodging his attacks until he tired himself out. She found this extended to other skills, such as gun play, which she proceeded to try to hone through practice so she could emulate her heroes. It was during her practice that she found herself visited by her own mentor spirit, who began to help her train properly through giving advice beside her. Believing these unique abilities and mentor to be gifts from God, she felt she had a responsibility to use them to help others as she had been taught to do. Unfortunately, she felt law enforcement would be the best place to do this. Travis encouraged the idea and decided he should follow suit. Despite being more bookish against her naturally adventurous disposition, he got on as a legacy hire, and the two of them often partnered together to solve cases. The two worked well together, striking a balance between helping others, keeping the peace, and not noticing the corruption surrounding them. A few years in with many requests, Travis was able to break into dispatch, which better suited his talents. Around the same time, largely due to her unique abilities, Meche was offered to join the Shadowriders. First she'd only need to help them on a few tasks to make sure she really had what it takes to take down shadowrunners. This proved almost natural for her, and the shadowrunners proved to be the exact sort of scum that she desired to take down. Some of the biggest threats to the people she was sworn to protect. People who can cause catastrophic collateral damage far exceeding that of random local gang violence. However, on her third mission taking down shadowrunners, something changed. She met a shadowrunner, one with strong principles who was risking life and limb to protect another who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. She almost saw herself in another life. She hesitated. Then, they escaped. She began to notice ore, and question tings again in a way she hadn't since childhood. It became harder for her to feel comfortable with what she was doing, and she couldn't stand the blatant misuses of power, wanton violence, and strong racism around her anymore, so she turned her back on it. Travis felt she should stay, told her as much, but she simply couldn't anymore. When she pressed him, he had no responses against her. He wished her luck with a crestfallen smile. She got on her motorcycle and drove off into the shadows, a silver streak through the night. She hoped that wherever she went, she really would be able to help those around her. Perhaps she'd end up like a true lone wandering sheriff like all the old movies her father watched with her, or maybe, just maybe, she hoped she'd be lucky enough to find a true team of erstwhile companions. A hope she held deep in her heart.
