Summary

Fatima Kumar is a dead woman walking, a cheap designer baby whose body is slowly falling apart. In order to live she requires constant support from in-built cybernetics, along with frequent doses of a fiendishly expensive drug. Even still, her life expectancy is measured in single digits. When she was younger she was something of a star, an academic whiz-kid thriving in the face of adversity. Now she's the definition of a burnout. With no scholarship, no job, and a monstrously expensive illness, she's forced to risk what's left of her life playing doctor for groups of criminal psychopaths. Or, as her fixer calls it, shadowrunning. If she'd known this would happen she'd have majored in English.
