Background

Jacqueline Delacroix was born to Alain Delacroix and Monique Moreau close to Dunkelzahn's residence in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Jacqueline's parents were of Acadian descent. When Acadians were expelled from Nova Scotia in the mid 1700s her ancestors fled to to New France (Quebec). Those Acadians who returned to Nova Scotia in the 1780s and 1790s found their former settlements occupied by American settlers and Loyalists. As a result, the Acadians occupied new areas in western Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island, Prince Edward Island, the eastern shore of New Brunswick, and the Gaspé Peninsula. Jacqueline was an inquisitive child from birth exploring every nook and cranny as soon as she could crawl. A precocious child she learned to read while in kindergarten, which was a mixed blessing. Her voracious reading enabled academic success but it also exposed her to ... murder mysteries. Her innate curiosity only grew stronger as she awakened upon entering puberty. Although Jacqueline did exceptionally well in school academically, she was never popular. She developed a reputation as 'nosy'. After graduating from high school she knew precisely what she wanted to do and where to do it. Forensic thaumaturgy was what she wanted to do and Loyola University in New Orleans was the place to learn it. The strong Cajun influence left by the Acadians that settled in Louisiana was a comforting extra benefit. Jacqueline soon learned that the invasive restrictions placed on forensic thaumaturgists employed by law enforcement agencies made that career path unappealing. Pursuing secrets for profit in the private sector was the way to go. Shortly after graduation, Jacqueline moved to Seattle to work as an investigator and bounty hunter. Discretion Assured LLC is a private investigation firm set up by Jacqueline.
