Summary

A professional boxer out to prove he's the best, James has spent the past 8 years solidifying himself as a major player in the UCAS:Professional Adept Boxing League. Winning the 2078 Championship bout in a 10 round slugfest against his career long rival Joji "the Dragon" Kanazuka, he won the enmity of the Yakuza game when he refused to take a dive in that same bout. After nearly losing his life in a Yakuza hit the same day, James decided that it was time to practice his "Hurricane Style" in more... dangerous settings. So, he took up Shadowrunning.

Backstory

     James Albert Langston was bored the youngest of three in lower Manhattan, on April 10th, 2050. He grew up in middle class UCAS with a relatively normal childhood. Never the best (or most patient) student, James often found himself getting into fights in his younger years. The more he fought, the better he got, and he ended up getting in minor adolescent 'leagues', where his classmates would bet on how well he could kick around his peers. However, when he turned 13 and discovered he was an awakened, he got ostrocized from these fight clubs due to his clear unfair advantage. Still craving the thrill of the fight, he started to join undergound adept boxing rings all the way through his junior year of high school until he (albeit barely) managed to graduate.
     However, his less than stellar grades caught up with him as he was rejected from every college he applied to, and dropped out of the community college from pure frustration at the age of 18. Out of college, and too ashamed to go back to his parents, he did the only thing he knew how - he fought for his livelyhood, joining any legal or illegal leagues he could get into. For the next two years James fought from shitty apartment to shitty apartment, until he was discovered by boxing talent scout Emilio Vazquez. Vazquez, who would go on to be his promoter and close friend, helped James refine his style and go for the big leagues. In 2070, James became the youngest member of the UCAS Professional Adept Boxing League.
     James, an obvious underdog, was a quick fan favorite and gained some solid popularity, gaining the moniker "The Hurricane". It was during the first two years of his boxing career that he began the intense rivalry that would define his career - he had his first fight against Joji "The Dragon" Kanazuka, a boxer with family ties to the Yakuza. After that first match, the bitter rivalry between the Hurricane and the Dragon only grew. Whenever James and Joji took to the ring, it was almost always a sold out show. Their rivalry climaxed, however, in the 2078 UCAS:PABL Championships.
     James, who'd always dreamed of making it to grand finals but never making it past semifinals, had finally managed to fight his way to the top. Once in grand finals, his opponent was none other than Joji Kanazuka. However, James had been approached by Joji's Yakuza family and paid 35,000 nuyen to drop the match in the 6th. James agreed, but really planned to take the money and kick the crap out of Joji to make a point against rigged matches. The match dragged on and on, and by the time the 6th round rolled around and James showed no intention of dropping, the Yakuza realized his ploy.
     The next four rounds were defined by some of the best boxing the UCAS:PABL had ever seen, both contenders desperate to take home the title. The bitter match lasted all the way to the 10th, when James took the match with a blindingly fast TKO. Taking home the title and the 35,000 nuyen, James didn't think the day could get any better - and then the Yakuza tried to kill him. As he left the arena four Yakuza thugs tried to kill him and take the money he'd tried to get away with. However, they weren't counting on James entering a furious rage the likes of which not even the Hurricane knew he was capable of. 
     After this... strange revelation, James decided he wanted to expand on his powers by doing something he'd only heard of in rumors: Shadowrunning. He bought a fake SIN for one "Marcus Christopher Hadfield", and started to take on small jobs whenever he went on tour. Now, he's come to Seattle for the UCAS:PABL Western circuit and looking for some good jobs to get some much needed practice.

Goals

James wants to defend his championship title, and take his game to the world stage in international tournaments and the Olympics, something he's been unfortunately incapable of for the past 8 years. As well, he wants to finally crush his rival, Joji "the Dragon" Kanazuka, and the Yakuza who threaten his life on a daily basis.

Narrative Significant Qualities

James is ambitious, hotheaded, and always willing to prove that his Hurricane style is the best style on the block. He isn't a dumb person (well, at least not in terms of common sense, when it comes to booksmarts he's as dumb as they come), but he is a very easy to irk person.

Appearance

James is a strapping young man, almost always sporting a cocky smile and eyes that seem to beg for a fight. If one looks further, his well toned muscles follow up his eyes' request by saying, "Take me on buddy, and I will beat the livin' drek outta you." (Picture coming)

Clothing

While in the ring, James sports the usual boxing shorts and general attire, with one strange variation however - the UCAS:PABL is a bare knuckle boxing league. While NOT in the ring, however, James goes about in decent casual clothing and his lined jacket, wearing a pair of sunglasses in a (albeit futile) attempt to disguise himself. However, when he doesn't want to hide, he loves the attention. On a shadowrun, James wears a custom made white ballistic mask that hides his whole face - You can never be too careful!
