Goals
Protect the Ork Underground: Futrim’s primary goal is to ensure the safety of his community, acting as a shield against external threats and taking on runs that help maintain peace in the Underground.
Master his Stealth Skills: Futrim constantly hones his adept abilities, aiming to perfect his infiltration and combat techniques, making him an even more efficient and silent guardian.

Background
Futrim Securis was born in Germany’s Black Forest, within a close-knit troll society that valued strength, honor, and connection to the land. Raised with traditional values and a respect for nature, Futrim developed an early sense of duty to protect his community. Life in the forest wasn’t easy, but the trolls there had honed skills in survival, self-sufficiency, and combat—skills that Futrim eagerly absorbed. His natural talent with an axe and his calm, helpful nature earned him respect among his peers, but a change loomed on the horizon.
In his late teens, Futrim experienced a sudden transformation when Haley’s Comet surged magic through the world, triggering his changeling metamorphosis. His skin took on a rough, slate-gray texture, and his physical strength and resilience grew. Alongside this physical change, he found himself attuned to a chaotic energy in nature, as though he could feel a hidden rhythm guiding him. This power connected him to Thunderbird, a mentor spirit embodying both protective and storm-like destructive aspects. Though his tribe accepted him, Futrim sensed he was meant for something different.
Futrim’s life took a significant turn when the encroaching interests of corporations began to threaten the Black Forest. One night, a particularly vicious raid left parts of his home scarred and his family in danger. Though the trolls defended their land, Futrim knew he couldn’t stay. With a heavy heart, he left the Black Forest to gain the experience and knowledge he needed to protect his people. He spent years traveling across Europe, taking up odd jobs, mastering his adept powers, and growing into his role as a stealth warrior. Over time, he developed an affinity for Chaos Magic and a distinct style in combat—favoring an axe, a symbol of both his heritage and his skill.
In his early 30s, Futrim made his way to Seattle, drawn by stories of the Ork Underground, a place where trolls and orks stood together, resilient against oppression. He quickly found kinship with Greg, a fixer and former Renraku Neo-PD detective who had dedicated his life to helping the disenfranchised. Greg saw potential in Futrim, connecting him with the Skraacha, the Underground’s defenders, and showing him the ropes of shadowrunning. Through Greg’s guidance, Futrim began to work as a shadowrunner, choosing jobs that allowed him to guard the OU, eliminate threats, and build alliances.
Today, Futrim is a well-known figure in the Ork Underground, a towering troll who offers a warm smile and a helping hand to those around him. He’s known as the “big guy with the axe” who’s always willing to help, whether it’s carrying heavy loads or telling tales of his forest home. To most, he’s just a friendly troll who’s happy to lend his strength. But when danger arises, he’s the first to disappear into the shadows, his chameleon suit blending seamlessly into his surroundings. With quiet efficiency, he eliminates threats, protecting the people he’s come to call family.
Though he’s a skilled assassin, Futrim maintains a wholesome demeanor, refusing to let the darkness of his work consume him. For him, being a protector is about more than just the kill; it’s about honoring his values and staying connected to his roots. Each night he spends running, each target he eliminates, brings him closer to his vision of a safe, self-sufficient Underground, where people like him and Greg can live without fear. Until then, Futrim continues his work, an unseen guardian of the shadows.
Narrative Significant Qualities
Positive
Path of the Warrior
Adept
Narrative Role: Being an adept allows Futrim to channel his magic into his body and combat abilities, enhancing his stealth and agility. His adept powers make him a supernatural force, and they emphasize the contrast between his friendly, unassuming presence and his deadly skills as an assassin. It also ties into his connection with Thunderbird, adding depth to his role as both protector and avenger.
Changeling (SURGE III)
Narrative Role: Futrim’s changeling traits, especially his slate-gray skin and physical resilience, add to his mystique and connect him to the magical world in a profound way. His changeling nature not only sets him apart physically but also gives him a unique identity within the Ork Underground, where he’s seen as someone special. The transformation reminds him of his responsibility to use his gifts for the benefit of others.
Celerity
Narrative Role: Celerity enhances Futrim’s quickness and reflexes, making him a deadly infiltrator and giving him an edge when situations escalate quickly. His swiftness in critical moments reinforces his role as a shadowrunner, heightening the drama during chases, fights, and quick escapes. It serves as a reminder of his training and discipline, helping him stay one step ahead of threats.
Mentor Spirit (Thunderbird)
Narrative Role: Thunderbird, embodying dual aspects of protection and destructive force, guides Futrim's actions. This totem spirit represents Futrim’s two sides: the calm protector and the fierce avenger. His alignment with Thunderbird reflects his internal struggle between wanting to protect the OU and needing to eliminate its enemies. This connection is vital to his growth, as Thunderbird often influences his decisions, especially when moral dilemmas arise.
Metagenic Improvement (Strength)
Narrative Role: His enhanced strength emphasizes his troll heritage, showing that while Futrim has adapted to the ways of stealth and subtlety, he still possesses the raw physical power of a troll. His strength is a narrative tool that allows him to provide physical support, lift morale, and protect others. It reminds everyone in the OU that he’s not only a stealthy fighter but a powerful defender.
Negative
Bioluminecent
Critter Spook
Narrative Role: Animals and spirits react negatively to Futrim, adding an element of danger to situations involving magical or animal encounters. This makes infiltration more challenging, as critters can give away his position. It also introduces a sense of isolation for him, as his aura distances him from certain aspects of nature, creating a subtle inner conflict between his love for the forest and the supernatural nature of his abilities.
Emotional Attachment (Axe)
Narrative Role: Futrim’s attachment to his axe adds layers to his personality and history. The axe symbolizes his identity, heritage, and his role as a protector. Narratively, this attachment can put him in risky situations if his weapon is lost or threatened, and it can lead to challenges where he must balance his connection to his past with the need to adapt to new tools or tactics. This attachment also serves as a tool for exploring themes of identity and belonging.
Impaired Attribute (Logic)
Narrative Role: His lower logic limits him in areas requiring technical or intricate mental work, often making him rely on others for hacking or high-level planning. This quality brings out Futrim’s humility, as he’s aware of his limitations and knows he can’t solve every problem alone. This can lead to interesting dynamics where he leans on allies, emphasizing themes of trust and collaboration in the OU.
Simsense Vertigo
Narrative Role: Futrim’s simsense vertigo hinders him in a world where digital experiences are common, making him vulnerable to certain technologies. This quality can be used narratively to highlight the contrast between him and more tech-savvy allies or enemies, underscoring his preference for traditional and physical methods of combat. It also serves as a way to add tension in scenarios involving AR or VR elements.
Slow Healer
Narrative Role: This quality heightens the stakes for Futrim during dangerous runs, as injuries take longer to recover, adding a sense of vulnerability. It can also test his patience and resilience, forcing him to weigh the risks of each mission carefully. This drawback makes each hit he takes in combat more significant, reinforcing his preference for stealth and avoiding direct confrontation.
Nocturnal
Narrative Role: Futrim’s unique slate-gray skin makes him both recognizable and memorable, which adds a layer of difficulty when trying to remain anonymous in public spaces. Within the Ork Underground, however, this quality is an identifying mark of pride, setting him apart as a respected figure. This pigmentation serves as both a source of pride and a challenge, creating situations where he must either embrace or conceal his appearance depending on his environment.

Appearance
Futrim Securis is an imposing figure, even among trolls. Standing well over eight feet tall, his frame is heavily muscled yet lean, reflecting the agility and strength that define his stealthy combat style. His skin is a striking shade of slate gray, rough and textured, resembling rhino hide due to his SURGE transformation, which further emphasizes his unique appearance. This pigmentation sets him apart, lending him a mysterious, almost statuesque presence that catches attention, even when he’s trying to stay low-profile.
Futrim’s usual attire is his custom-made chameleon suit, sleek, close-fitting, and designed with advanced materials that help him blend seamlessly into shadows. The suit is a deep matte color, devoid of any shine to avoid catching light, with carefully positioned utility pockets for essential gear. It’s a modern marvel, combining tactical design with extreme stealth capabilities, and includes a chem seal to protect him in toxic environments. The suit covers him completely, from head to toe, and includes a tight hood and a cloth mask that hides his face.
On his face, he wears blacked-out tactical goggles that complete his stealthy look. These goggles are fully integrated with the suit, providing enhanced night vision, thermal imaging, and other modes critical for infiltration. The goggles give his face an even more shadowy and enigmatic appearance, adding to the overall aura of a silent assassin.
His weapon of choice, a modernized combat axe styled like a lumberjack’s tool, rests either in a specialized sheath on his back or held firmly in his grip. The axe’s rugged handle is adorned with faintly glowing runes, marking it as a magical weapon, its blade sharp and gleaming. The axe is large, matching his frame, yet Futrim wields it with ease and precision.
When not on a mission, Futrim’s approachable and relaxed demeanor makes him seem far less intimidating, especially to those in the Ork Underground. Even in his full suit, there’s an air of warmth about him, a sense that he’s just a “big guy helping the little guys” rather than a cold, calculated killer. This contrast between his towering, shadowy figure and his friendly personality gives him a presence that people can’t help but be drawn to.
