Background
Arthur Brouillette was born as the youngest son to a large troll francophone family living deep in the urban sprawl, having emigrated from Quebec. Arthur's formative years were spent under the watchful eye of his many siblings, giving him relative safety not all children of the underground had. His family worked whatever jobs they could get, and Arthur was no exception, hauling bricks with his brothers before he learned how to read. He found himself comfortable talking with most anyone, and was quick to make friends even if only to make a shift go by faster.
Growing up Arthur became a part of the Ork and Troll Community in Seattle, getting into occasional fights, petty crime, and particularly following local pirate radios and music groups. While he was a teen he got work at a local bar, originally as a bouncer but his chatty nature demoted him to mopping floors and washing dishes. Around this time he acquired his first guitar, a lucky find amid a night's trash, and started to learn how to play to pass the time. He taught himself to play Goblin Rock songs he listened to by ear, his hobby becoming a passion as he upgrades to a troll-sized guitar and started brushing shoulders with other wannabees at clubs, concerts, and mosh pits. Arthur played his first gig at the bar he was still working at, under the stage name Vic Valentine.
A natural showman, Vic started getting noticed and was soon able to become the front man for a band named STITCH TRIPPER. The band gained a following and soon garnered the attention of a talent agent named Gord Levi. Levi offered the group a lucrative contract with a large signing bonus. While wary of the intentions of this man, Vic Valentine was the first name signed. Arthur was 17 years old at the time.
Mr. Levi had complete creative control over the band and started to make adjustments as he saw fit. The band was pushed in a more mainstream direction, playing on orxploitation trends and lyrics avoiding any allusions to real world topics. While frustrated by the changes, Vic was pleased with his growing popularity. His skills flourished during this time, screaming into a microphone, playing a nimble arpeggios between violent chords, fixing contracts with Mr. Levi, and placating his bandmates as the changes grew more drastic. Vic found himself placed as the in-between of Mr. Levi and the rest of STITCH TRIPPER, only meeting with their benefactor on his own and having to bare the weight of delivering the news of interference from higher up the chain. Soon the group were told that they would be getting cosmetic surgery, explained to them as a "touch up" to compete with other talents. They woke up to a find many of their dermal deposits removed, their horns truncated, faces sharpened and pushed to a more human guise. The band was outraged, and demanded to see Levi themselves but Vic stepped in to promise that he would take care of it like always...
After healing from the procedure the band were scheduled to play their biggest gig yet, Levi moving forwards on his mass market strategy. Vic pushed back the confrontation, not wanting to lose the chance to perform on the big stage. A new set of outfits, instruments, and amenities were given to the band, a shiny new image to present a more diverse crowd.
The night came and Arthur felt like he was the king of the world, massive stage lights drowning out a smoky sea of faces and lenses pointed his way. He sang his heart out, fingers dancing between frets as hours of recital and hardship finally felt like it all paid off...
Arthur Brouilette woke up in a hospital bed several hours later.
A member of the Humanis Polyclub had slipped into the venue several hours previously, setting an explosive device under the stage to make an example of the vile crew of trogs invading his neighborhood. Vic learned this over the next few hours, getting questions in between swarms of reporters vying for material. Before the morning came, Vic Valentine would be the last survivor of STITCH TRIPPER.
The story of the band made it's rounds for a while, Vic appearing on talk shows and podcasts for presenters to mock sympathy for him. The studios he was moved between blurred past him, recounting the events until the story was old news. Without a band Vic found himself being signed up to appear alongside other talent, as a way to make them seem more empathetic towards metahumans. Outside the view of the camera however, many of them loudly complained about having to have a trog in their entourage. Novacoke became Vic's escape from his stress, a habit Mr. Levi was all too happy to support provided he kept a hold of the supply.
Years raced by before Gord Levi officially sold Vic Valentine's contract to a multinational holdings company, leaving Arthur without a word to find another fresh talent. Val waited for a while, sitting on his savings before he saw himself in a late night trideo broadcast, dancing away to an old recorded show. The holdings company had no need for the man himself, the image and .snd files were more than enough.
Having found himself stranded, the rocker now turns back to his roots, doing odd jobs to make ends meet...
