Background
Alyssa Abbot was born in September 2052, to a single mother living in Downtown Seattle with her older brother (a recently retired Urban Brawl player). Her father is an agricultural merchant from Tír na nÓg who had no interest in sticking around to raise a child and showed little to no interest in her until she began to display her talent as an adept around the age of 8. From this point on he would pay for her every need on the agreement that she would attend university in Tír na nÓg, a deal that she would follow through on after graduating from high school and being accepted to University College Dublin (largely due to the influence of her father).
Shortly after she left for college her mother retired and immigrated to the California Free State. At UCD Alyssa studied Architecture but soon realized that she wasn't really suited for the more technical aspects of higher education. In particular, she found herself largely incapable of passing any type of math classes. The stress associated with her poor grades and learning that her father was solely interested in her because of her powers resulted in her looking for other areas of life to find fulfillment. The contempt that she felt for her father eventually boiled over, resulting in her looting his house for valuables, pawning them off, and giving the creds to a group of homeless people. When the police never stopped to so much as question her she decided to continue this trend, robbing wealthy merchants in a string of thoroughly well-planned B&E's utilizing what little she learned in college to aid her. This stopped when one day she noticed a family of orks she'd helped a few days prior being arrested by the police. It was easier to arrest the trogs who suddenly had enough to feed their children than to look for the true culprit. In reality, more than half of the people she'd helped had been arrested as well. She dropped out of UCD soon after this and traveled to Scotland.
While traveling around Scotland she met Dodman Daniel and attempted to convince him to teach her the druidic tradition of magic in order to better control her adept powers. He initially refused, but another of his students (a troll and former Dublin resident who'd heard about her good deeds) vouched for her and he reluctantly agreed. Sometime after this, she learned of her uncle's passing and that he'd left her his apartment in Seattle and a monthly stipend of nuyen to cover her living expenses and a small sum for any additional monthly costs.
She returned to Seattle a competent adept and burglar, although her architectural skills were far from developed. Her uncle was murdered in a back alley by gangers and his house raided soon after, but there was little in the way of a proper investigation, so she decided to use some of her inheritance to purchase personal protection and attended classes at a local gun range where she discovered she had a natural talent at firing automatics. While cleaning out her uncle's apartment she found a folder full of physical documents hidden underneath some floorboards. The documents included detailed paydata from most of the megacorps (excluding Horizon and Saeder-Krupp), leaving Alyssa with burning questions regarding the nature of her uncle's death. Armed with nothing but her skills, the contact info of a local fixer, and a desire to avenge the only father figure she'd ever known she decided to run the shadows until she found what she was looking for or until she died.
Narrative Significant Qualities
- Trust Fund I: Inheritance from her uncle, including a Downtown Seattle apartment and a monthly allowance to cover living expenses.
- Reduced Sense (Taste): Nerve damage from botched wisdom tooth removal.
- SINner National: UCAS citizenship registered to "Alyssa Abbot".
- Day Job (10 hours/a week - Bouncer): While not actually all that skilled at hand-to-hand combat, most patrons aren't too keen to tussle with an adept. The shock gloves help too.
