Summary
Sizzles, struggling with his emotions after failing to (in his mind) punish the Dovetree Family severely enough for their attack on Charles Diallo that killed his wife and daughter, flies out to see him in Chiba. Diallo has been flown to Imperial japan to recuperate from his near-fatal injuries and to receive top-flight cybernetic replacements for his lost limbs at a Chiba delta black clinic.
Charles Diallo is recovering after surgery, and the Federated Boeing security agents assigned to Diallo do not want to let Sizzles pass. Social engineering and quick thinking is necessary to slide into the protected room to speak with Diallo.
Once inside Sizzles has an emotional discussion with the grieving father and husband about what transpired, and Sizzle's failing to receive (and enact for Diallo) a more satisfying revenge on the Dovetrees. The thought of Diallo's little daughter, who Sizzles met and brought a birthday present, haunts his mind. The two men, angry at the other's emotional languishing, strengthen each other's resolve to pull themselves back together and carry on.
