Character Information

Summary

Born to a Mitsuhama family, The Star emerged and was quickly taken as a lab rat. After years he managed to escape. With little but his freedom, he wants to better himself and the world.

Goals

Make enough money to become secure. Become famous and spread the word about MCT's attrocities through his musical platform.

Background

XVII : The Star always had a knack for the electrical. No one can really know now how young Otaku could gain their gift, but The Star was in touch with machines from a very young age. Their parents never noticed, brushing it off his supernatural explorations as glitches or harmless accidents. When the Crash 2.0 occured, his parents had bigger issues to focus on than their child's distress, and his gift quickly faded. Their Mitsuhama jobs allowed XVII : The Star into fine educational programs, where he still excelled at everything electrical - both software and hardware. In early adolescents, his excitement over finally working with real drones shoved him forward into full on Emergance.

After realizing what had happened, he was eager to share the news with his parents. They were worried and deeply concerned, but Mitsuhama was happy to reassure them and made sure XVII : The Star was no longer their problem. He hopes, even now, that they are happy. That his betrayal earned them some comfort. In a Mitsuhama black site, XVII : The Star, now Subject 17, was subject to cruel experimentation. In some regards, he was fortunate as he was considered a control subject for Cyberware installation. That did no stop the researchers from amputating his arm to see if it effected his technomancer abilities.

Cut off from the Matrix at large, and physically isolated, he did find one small comfort - the walls of his room were not echo proofed. He found he could tap tunes to the neighboring cells, and his fellow prisoners would tap back in solidarity. XVII : The Star isn't sure how the other prisoners arranged their escape - perhaps communing together in Deep Resonance - but on the day of their break they let him have the opportunity to flee too. He managed to seize a Mitsuhama security drone to help, but the others told him to run. He doesn't know what happened to the rest of them, and has mixed feelings about doing what they asked.

SINless and friendless, XVII : The Star eventually found his way to Touristville. He found small time work as a supporting instrumentalist at The Daze, and has been well enough behaved for Alessa P to tolerate him working to get back on his feet, despite his quickly developing, and dull, addiction. She has suggested that XVII : The Star take up some more dangerous work to speed up the process, which he has obliged.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Otaku to Technomancer - XVII : The Star was always very in touch with the Matrix, even as an infant. Fortunately or unfortunately, his parents didn't notice his engagement with machines, and when Crash 2.0 happened, his abilities faded like an old memory, only to be remembered when he Emerged.

Negative

Mild Addiction (Soycafe) Designated Omega (Life in confinement left them somewhat pliant) Records on File (Mitsuhama) - Was born into a Mitsuhama family, but when they emerged they were quietly erased from public record and added to a technomancer research program. Escaped Custody (Mitsuhama) - While now free, XVII : The Star is still fairly traumatised from his experience. Signature(A new song) - Despite his best impulses, he feels that leaving some of his music within the digital security design of places he runs against is a sure fire way to get his image out there.
