Character Information

Summary

A drone operator from an old Runecarver family with a decent shot and a solid technician if he doesn't say so himself.

Background

Karl is the latest in a long line of runecarvers from sue st. marie, old mages that have been enchanting for as long as they have family records. Unfortunately for karl, not only did he not awaken like his family, Horizon destroyed the family business under a mountain of lawsuits and fines. They never had a chance, some company bigwig got the idea that the family had a horde of magic artifacts. His family was thrust into poverty, when they reached out to the dwarf network and received no reply. Abandoned, Many were lost to ill health and others just went missing. Karl doesn't know how many of his family is still alive, but knows his mother is dead for sure.

Karl used his technical ability to make ends meet, the careful handwork of the runecarver transferring just fine to delicate technical work. He applied his trade against locks and control panels and made due with B&E jobs. He made enough to get a hold of some small second hand drones and expanded his repertoire to scouting and tech theft. The better he got, the risker he ran. During a getaway he took a point blank flashbang, he closed his eyes in time but without wear he would never hear again. So he used his nest egg and went all in on new ears with all the fixings and c-rig and datajack. With the new gear he ran a heist on an ares shipment, sold the weapons for a big payout but kept the roadmaster in the back for himself. In time Karl learned about the Seattle underworld, and the shadow runners that called it home. He wanted a piece of that action, especially if it gave him an excuse to screw over the corps that ended most of his family.

The trip to Seattle wasn't too bad all things considered, Karl was only shot at twice. The first coulpe dayes were a little rough, looking for a fixer with no local rep isn't the easiest thing. The only one he got a name for was a damn horizon talent scout. On top of everything some shitbird decker thought it would be funny to fuck with his cyber ears as a random prank. Thanckfully the name of a cyberdoc is a lot easter to find. Karl got into contact with Alice Kane for a refit and calibration on his ears. Alice not only did the job well, she gave him a discount for some indie RPG’s he borough form home. They ended up having a long convo about everything from the roadmaster and cyberware to jrpgs and super sentai. Before he left for his hotel, she asked for his contact info, she was also a fixer and she might even have some work for him if he stayed in town.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Skilled fingers:(JURYRIGGER+TECHNICAL SCHOOL EDUCATION), while he never awakened, he did learn to do delecete work with reactive elements.

A friend in the city (BLACK MARKET PIPELINE: cyberware), from what he knows about the black market from back home, karl knows Alice is one in a million fixer to have.

Built like my father (THERMOGRAPHIC VISION (metatype)+RESIST PATHOGEN/TOXIN (metatype)) karl is dwarf though and through.

Negative

I'm almost done, I'll sleep in a bit: (ALLERGY: Soy (moderate)+INSOMNIA: basic), his years as a craftsman have left Karl with some unfortunate habits and some stress damage.
