Background

John Riley was born in Charleston to military parents. He grew up in a military household. He awakened when he was seven, and joined the Army at 18. He served for three years as a military mage in the Rangers before his capture.

John was caught up in the attacks from Fear the Dark. His unit was responding to an attack and was overpowered. Several were taken alive, all were tortured and killed. John lasted the longest. For his tenacity, he was turned, and tortured some more. This went on for almost a year before he caught a lucky break. Shadowrunners, hired to kill the infected, became John's saviors. Leery at first, he was rescued and proceeded to help the Runners exterminate the infected. They went their separate ways after.

John first tried to visit his parents. They were more accepting than one might think. The Army had written him off as "lost in action", so there was no real place for him at home. His father once came across a group that might help him. He was given contact information for a Fixer in Seattle. Another infected, whom John's father had met and been impressed with. He left home, never to return. His parents are still there and they still regard him as part of the family. That is enough for him.

So he now lives in Seattle. He met Jean-Baptiste and his sister Amelie and they soon put him to work.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Astral Chameleon - John is a master at controlling his magic. Military training is very useful in the Shadows.
