"Inside, it’s dim — but not dirty. The wood is old, sure, but it's been cared for. Scratches polished smooth, the bar top wiped down with more routine than reverence. Five stools, all intact. One wobbles, but only if you’re looking for an excuse to leave. In the back, a booth with a better view of the door than the counter — unofficially reserved for regulars or silence. The lighting comes from a narrow track above the bar, warm and just clean enough to not be depressing. Someone dusts them — maybe not daily."
