Summary

A trio of runners are hired to rob a Saeder-Krupp convoy of its prototype weaponry.

Background

A number of prototype weapons are being delivered to a Saeder-Krupp facility in Seattle. An Ares corpo wants the convoy intercepted and the contents within to end up in his arsenal instead. And who better than Ares-owned runners (and an independent, rogue AI) to make the delivery?

The Meet

Getaway and Brunhilde are contacted by Ciro Reyes, an Ares executive, and given a job: Saeder-Krupp's hardware has become a touch more advanced in recent times, and supposedly a convoy hosting some of these more advanced goods will be arriving at a dock in Everett, heading south through Snohomish into Downtown where it will enter SK's headquarters. The two cyborgs are instructed to secure the transport, pilfer the weapons inside, lose the trail and ensure no trackers remain, and to bring what they can back. In exchange, they will receive a great sum of rewards to be put forth to improving their own loadout.

During the meeting and even before, Brunhilde had been acting slightly... odd - ignoring Ciro's orders to be properly clean, being exceptionally curt if almost abrasive, and in general more 'lax' even while meeting someone far above her station. Inquiry by Getaway afterwards proved to give little information as to why, her mannerisms seeming somewhat guarded.

The Plan

Calling up some contacts and getting a good lay of the land beforehand, the two figure they would intercept in Snohomish, using Kangee and a few of his goons as both distraction and covering fire whilst they rolled in with smoke grenades and made for as quick a run and grab as they could. After that, Getaway would drive to the southeast and try to avoid as many cops as possible, blending in or speeding off as needed before finding a good point to make his way back to Ares territory to drop off the goods.

One thing was missing however. A decker. Mostly, the two cyborgs figured they needed someone to squelch comms and maybe cause distractions as needed. With this, they put a call out that would reach Espada's digital ears, who would join them in seizing the weapons. The newest member of the team's only request was for a number of materials to upgrade their equipment. Seeing no reason to disagree with that as a payment method, Getaway would metaphorically shake his hand.

The Run

Starting at where Kangee and co. begin opening fire upon the armored truck and its two escorting cars, Getaway floors it to the back of the transport as Brunhilde throws a smoke grenade into the area. While most of the guards are forced to focus on the distraction, an SK Prime member kicks open the back of the transport and opens fire on Brunhilde with a modified heavy machine gun. This gets the attention and focus of three of the guards, who would do the same. In the meanwhile, Espada works on eliminating the enemy decker and Getaway aims his Roadmaster's turret at one of the guards.

Unfortunately, the SK Prime's heavy augmentations and skill would keep him in the fight for longer than hoped or expected, leading both him and Brunhilde to be locked in a firefight. In an effort to ease the heat off of her, Getaway shoots into two of the three supporting guards, and after two or three volleys of bullets would manage to take them out. While this was happening in meatspace, Espada managed to take care of the enemy decker and squelch comms. But their Overwatch Score was becoming increasingly higher, causing the AI to have to reboot or else face the wrath of GOD. To make matters worse, Brunhilde's duel with the SK Prime individual would end in a loss, leaving her shell incapacitated. Luckily, she had done significant damage to the man and her CCU was still intact. However, that would mean it was down to Getaway...

Moving and angling the Roadmaster just a pinch, the Roadmaster's turret would find its sights focused upon the heavily wounded SK member, and with a hail of gunfire he would finally meet his end, bleeding out in the back of the armored transport. From there, it was easy enough to clean up the last few guards with Kangee's help.

Brunhilde would contact Kangee once more, asking them for further assistance in grabbing the boxes and racks of weapons and placing them into the Roadmaster. After Getaway ensured Brunhilde was on board and all the racks and crates were placed in his vehicle, he would speed off and find a good point to drive casually. Espada rejoined the two after their reboot completed, and with his suggestion to enter the Ork Undergrounds the group would do so, spending some time to let the heat further settle down before heading into Bellevue to meet with Ciro Reyes, dropping off the goods as well as Brunhilde's shell to be repaired.

Aftermath

Job complete and Ciro pleased, the three would split and go their own ways, all the richer in goods and nuyen.
