Summary

Weak-willed, submissive, and somewhat easy to manipulate and boss around. He has trouble telling people no when they need help or they want something from him. In combat, this changes into an unnerving calmness and efficiency, that makes you forget his normal timid and subservient personality. His takes pride in his homeland's history and culture and remembers his time in the military fondly.

Goals

Protect Japan, Help as many people as possible, and make lots of money in the process. Also, maybe develop a bit of a spine.

Background

Sato Ryuu aka Shōkaki, grew up in Tokyo, in the Chiyoda Ward to parents of modest means. He had a largely boring and uneventful childhood, often looking at the imperial family palace in awe, and dreaming of a life of service in the Imperial Guard there. His Awakening brought with it enough social status to join the Japanese Imperial State Miltary, but his service was cut short by a scandal involving his superior. The stain of dishonor upon him, he left the Home Islands with sadness, practicing his magical talents in a succession of Japanese communities ever-further-abroad until he wound up in Seattle. His last move brought him into contact with the Shadows, when he met Hamamoto Ryoma, a Yakuza informant who recognized the mutual benefit possible by having a powerful mystic adept in his employ. For his part, Sato is happy to have a place to fit into, and Hamamoto continually reminds him that he is lucky to serve Japan in even such a lowly role as a Yakuza affiliate.

Code Of Honor (Nationalist: Japanese Imperial State) - The imperial army has a way of drumming up patriotism, and Sato Ryuu will gladly beat that drum until he is dead. He loves his homeland enough to be willing to break the law in service of it.
