Character Information
Summary
I am an augmented decker, specializing in sleaze and low-profile Matrix manipulation.
Goals
- Increase decking skills and hardware.
- Uncover extraterritorial corporate secrets.
- Replace as much of my body as possible with cybernetic enhancements.
Background
I took to hacking early in my childhood. The Matrix was a way to escape the truths of reality; a place where normal rules and social status no longer applied. A place I could both call, and make, my own.
My parents are SINless; both alive but each wishing the other wasn't. Dad's in the Barrens somewhere, don't even know his name. Got halfway through a search to find him and realised I didn't care. He'd never been in my life, no reason to change that now. Mom... mom was a good person once. Kind, caring, a real pillar of the community. Then she met my dad, got hooked on BTLs, and fell off the map. I keep tabs on her, out of morbid curiosity or some misguided feeling of guilt, I'm not sure. She's on the edge of Downtown, jobless, in her sister's apartment. Sometimes I wonder if I should do something for her, but the feeling always passes. The flesh is weak, and she is proof enough of that.
I grew up thin, weak and starving. Avoiding others was an integral part of my life. That was, until I learned to deck. Decking quickly consumed me with purpose; suddenly my intrinsic hacking skills could be applied liberally on a wider stage. No more was I constrained to flipping locks and stealing food; now... now I could take on the world. At least, that's what a younger more idealised version of me thought. What quickly became apparent was that my physical capabilities were not cut out for a life in the shadows, even one that leaned heavily on my technical skills. So I got chopped. It was pretty simple, really. Hit up a street doc one morning and off came my limbs. I recall looking at them in the biowaste bin afterwards with a detached sense of perspective. My body is simply a biological computer, with parts that can be pulled out, retrofitted and upgraded in the same way I would a console.
I aim to become my technology, and technology is the future.
