Summary

A group of runners are hired to track down an investigator from the UCAS and find out what he knows about Ms. Johnson.

Background

The Meet

The runners are called to a back alley in Tacoma in the middle of the night. All arriving around the same time having coordinated over the matrix, Quill decides to split from the group to ascend to the nearby rooftops to approach undetected. The runners make note of a pair of turrets overlooking the scene as they approach. Quill makes a show of sneaking into the meet undetected by the Johnson.

The job is simple, in a certain sense of the word. Ms. Johnson has a monkey on her back, a UCAS federal agent who's investigating her and her associates. A Hobgoblin by the name of Mr. Vonn. She wants to know what he knows and how he knows it, and the runners are the ones to get that information. They try to negotiate for better pay, but without any experienced negotiators among the party this effort falls flat. They do, however, receive an offer; If they can get the job done without the target knowing, the Johnson will add an extra bonus.

The runners are given two days to complete the job.

The Plan

The runners begin to plan. Between the three of them they have a changeling sniper, a broke barrens dweller and a cyborg. The target, they determine, is staying at the Seattle Hilton in Downtown. Unwilling to try their luck at the checkpoints and brave the scanners and police scrutiny in such a high security rating, they decide to track the target remotely. Intercession combs the 'trix for data on the target, feeding the team information on his role within the UCAS government. The team is able to identify his security detail as an armed shofer and likely a security guard, with a heavily armored BMW for transport around Seattle. A vehicle of which they are able to obtain images.

Newt summons a spirit of fire, plying it with McHughes takeout fries for it to do the team a favor and search for the target. After a little over an hour of waiting for the spirit to find him it reports that he is in the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building, also located in Downtown Seattle.

The Run

Newt projects and follows the spirit to the location, where she tails the target's vehicle all the way to Fort Lewis. Intercession and Quill map out their return route and search the Tacoma residential district for a good place to take a shot at a vehicle on the highway. Locating a water tower, they place Quill atop it to be concealed with technology and magic. After a brief discussion of methods to slow traffic to make the shot easier, they settle on trusting in Quill to make the shot. A tracker round into the armored limousine sets them up to tail Vonn the rest of the way.

The runners tail the target to a retirement home on the Tacoma docks, inhabited by retired marines and sailors. Intercession enters the building and takes a seat in the waiting room, eavesdropping on the target's conversation at the front desk. At the group's encouragement, Intercession hacks into the target's commlink and snags the image he was showing the clerk. Neither they nor the Johnson, who they forward the image to, seem to recognize him.

Realizing, however, that their cyborg now has digital access to the target's work commlink and that they have not found any evidence of any other data storage devices in their investigation (And that none of them are comfortable pitting their pickpocketing skills against an agent of the Pentagon) the team decide to get Intercession to hack the comm and snag the data that will get them paid. With a bit of encouragement, Intercession is able to grab the data without alerting the target.

Aftermath

Ms. Johnson informs the team that she intends to skip town, calling the job a "Setup if I've ever seen one". She pays the runners, and offers them their bonus: A (highly radioactive) focus for Newt, and access to cybernetics for the rest of the team.
