Summary

There's metaracists abound the week of Halloween, attacking a compound because it hired orcs for protection. A team of runners are sent in to stop them.

Background

Yorshka Val, prominent wildcard fixer, had a compound full of goods in the Redmond Barrens that was being harassed by Halloweeners, as is usual for the month. As such, the explosive eccentric needed some more protection for the time being. However, once she did hire some more security, who happened to be orcs/trolls/etc, she found that the compound was being shot at some blocks away by some kind of sniper team. Now, the fact that this happened right when she hired out non-humans for protection and that it almost completely focused on non-human personnel, she gathered a hunch that Humanis had decided to make their ugly asses a problem. And so, she reached out to a trio of runners for support.

The Meet

Three runners, Meepo, Miut, and a sadly not M-named runner Limitless, made their way over to Sophocles after their various evening preparations, coming up to the back end of a rooftop where they realized they had to climb up. After managing to climb up, the drake destroyer was ready and waiting for them, and explained the job: Find the sniper, stop them from harassing the compound, and be ready for some kind of thievery attempt on the compound sssssome time during all this. She suspected as much would happen, anyways. Keep her goods secured and the sniper from snipin', and it was a done deal. They'd get paid, and get some extra toys from the intrepid fixer herself.

Behind the scenes, Miut had some extra incentives from her fixer, Ashen Hand. Not, the fun kind. They'd gotten on some very rocky footing lately. She needed to prove herself. Do the job without fail, and without civilian casualties, or else.

The Plan

Each Runner would play to their strengths as best as they could. Limitless would go on foot to find and handle the sniper and whatever support they had up close and personally, with Miut supporting her from a distance with her Ruger sniper rifle and hacking skills. Meanwhile, Meepo had given Limitless some preparations to help her out in the fight, as well as gone to the compound to plant some...toys...that Yorshka had given the group to help handle any threats. After finding a really cool dude named Jackie P and some legwork on the meat and matrix spaces, the team was ready to take the fight to the sniper team.

The Run

Limitless made use of the gecko crawl prep Meepo had given her to go up the service elevator blindspot to ambush the mage/decker duo along with Miut. A data spike, wallbang, and chain detonation of planted explosive mines later, the fight really went underway. The street samurai struggled to keep up with all the firepower coming at her, but support from the plucky cat helped thin the herd and keep her alive. There was the threat of a black van encroaching upon the compound they were tasked with defending, but a well timed explosive absolutely destroyed the van, giving Meepo the most horrifying kill count of the evening. As bodies dropped one by one, the final member and [[Limitless] entered a grenade stand off. Unfortunately, barrens kids don't really have the honor of eating 2 He grenades right to the face detonating simultaneously. Despite the ruckus above an occupied building below and a body dropping into a crowd of party goers, the team themselves managed to sneak by and reconvene with none the wiser. Of them, at least.
