Summary
The runners are hired to fight fires set by Halloweeners on Oct 31, 2085
Background
No one cares about the Barrens except Barrens folk... and the SVFD. With Halloween night looming high, and the Halloweeners out in force, the SVFD contacts the runners for additional help with sorting out the fires being set all over Redmond.
The Meet
The team meets with a contact from the SVFD and agrees to help them, acknowledging that there is little pay in this. They're outfitted with some SVFD equipment in terms of fire resistance gear, gas masks, and the like, as well as given a truck to go out and do some Hooding Heroics.
The Plan
Realizing that fighting fires is perhaps not the best of ideas to do by themselves, the team does some prep work - both Obsidian and Galt summon water elemental spirits, getting their help to Guard the team, control the weather, and actively fight fires. Astrid makes a deal with some kind of Firelord in order to gain better control over fires as well.
Armed, armored, and spiritually backed up, the team heads out!
The Run
The first building the team gets to is ablaze and the team rushes to their job - using a combination of magic, muscle, and desperation in some cases. While pulling people out of the blazing building, amid water hoses and elemental blasts, Sang Monyet and Tusked Gillette get attacked by a fire spirit who was enjoying the fire they're trying to stop; however, the two quickly make short work of the manifested elemental while the team, unaware, recovers outside from their own efforts to rescue people.
The team manages to realize that the person driving these fires is Executive Barbarian, lieutenant of King HumungaMax, and so the team heads there next. What occurs is a pitched battle between Gillette and EB, where the street sam, fueled by Kami and Betameth, absolutely goes to town on him. The rest of the team tackles the goons protecting him, getting flamethrower'd a time or two for their efforts before Gillette utterly beheads EB in a grand show of Kami Fueled Fuckery.
The team briefly debates taking the head to Halloweener HQ and picking a bigger fight, mostly driven by said Kami-Fueled-Fuckery, but the team is saved from that escalation by both Sang and Gillette passing out from crashing their drugs.
Aftermath
One less Halloweener, a bunch more folks saved from fires, and a few new volunteers for the SVFD.
