Character Information

Summary

Ren is a vulpine shifter originating from Japan. He is a white fox in his vulpine form and a young-looking, slim Japanese man with natural white hair. He has his body covered with tattoos, some of them being Qi foci for his adept powers, and always carries with him an elegant katana, masterfully crafted with an impossible edge.

He has abandoned his native lands in search of a better chance at life.

Goals

- Ren wishes to end poaching or at least reduce it enough

- Wants to avenge his brother and adoptive brother

- Tracking down and killing one specific Japanese poacher that has settled in Seattle.

- Recover his brother's carcass, or whatever is left of him after the poacher's took his body.

- Retire.

Background

Ren and his brother were only two foxes from the same litter that remained loyal to one another through good times and bad. They resided in Japan's highlands and would sometimes go to the countryside to take chickens so they could eat when hunts failed. However, they remained hidden until one night, when they went into an old, presumably deserted martial arts school to try to steal something to eat. Once they entered the gardens, an elderly man stopped them and, seeing that they were but animals attempting to survive, provided them some food rather than chasing them away. The elderly guy cheerfully fed them every night he could since they continued to return.

When these two foxes awoke and gained sapience and became shifters, everything changed. As two young boys looking for an apprenticeship, they returned to the old master's house. The master was happy to let these two youngsters in since he knew these were the foxes he had been attached to. After raising them both, he finally discovered that Kenji, the eldest of the two foxes, was exceptionally talented in both martial arts and astral abilities. The more submissive of the two, Ren was named by the master as well. He was mostly interested in the arts, particularly music, which was the first thing he fell in love with when he woke up.

Tragedy struck when poachers learned about the brothers' condition and came to look for them when they were outside the walls of the home, the master tried his best to keep the poachers at bay, first by denying all accusations, but once the boys came back, the old master lunged at the poachers, trying to defend his boys. Sadly, age had caught up to the master, and Kenji rapidly jumped in to fight off the poachers while Ren could only watch in fear as the poachers were dispatched one by one by the duo, only to be stopped, and killed by their leader, a big male oni who overpowered both master and student, leaving Ren alone.

Ren now looks for the poacher that killed his family and recover the carcass of his brother to give him a proper burial.

Appearance

Ren in his human form is a young Japanese male in his early 20s. Long pitch-black hair tied in a knot to avoid it getting into his face.

Has fine facial features, similar to those belonging to a fox, such as a narrow profile and what people call "Hunter eyes." his build is lean and muscular, although it doesn't show under his clothing, and his hands are long and lithe, with long fingernails painted black His irises are unnaturally amber, reminding people of that shifter nature. He sports tattoos in several parts of his body, most notably his face, where he has some minor, smaller markings of Shinto symbology.

Clothing

He uses mostly dark, baggy clothing to avoid it limiting his movement. Such as a black hoodie, tucked in cargo pants and uses tight wraps for socks. He enjoys using Sneakers, and seems to enjoy collecting them as he uses a different pair each run. He also uses form fitting armor as his undergarment.
