Fennec's Stream

"So, chat, check it out! There's this author named Waverly Bell, right? You've heard of her, does really fun books like "I can't Believe My Girlfriend is Really a Free Spirit!", "Reborn as a Cute Elf Girl!? I'll Make the Most of My New Life in Tir na Nog!" and "Super Shifter: A Tale of One Cat's Journey to the Top of Millenium Tower!" - that author!"

Chat, naturally, detonates into a flame war - furious defenders of one work or the other arguing that theirs is the best, other authors' fans chiming in with how they're better, angry folks complaining about weeaboos, one of the mods pointing out that 'everyone in here is a weeaboo,' and Fennec? Fennec smiles, because she's getting the money from the Cashchats they're using to talk over each other. After about ten minutes of eagerly rattling off whatever cashchat is paying the most, she draws chat back in with the best method she knows: baseless conspiracies.

"So chat! They got signed, right? Well heeeere's the scoop on that - there's this little Seattle publisher, goes by the name of Nuyen Press - their host is super cute in like a 'five year old's first art project' kinda way - and the author's been getting their stories stolen out from under them right before publishing. Real blatant copycat stuff. Now, this is where it gets sinister. Here it is, this little underdog, getting ganked again and again, and surprise of surprises - there's a big, shadowy cabal doing it. Whoooooooo~~. So they're being sniped by this group called, like, Aoi Bungaku or something? And here's the heartwarming part - this lawyer hooks these little guys up with some advice, and they're suing! They've got proof apparently, so they're going after 'em with the spicy lawsuit! Even better, it's a Shiawase subsidiary and they're already moving to negotiate a settlement! A big win for the little guy! Ha ha ha. But here's the best part."

Fennec leans in a little, tails framing her face so the rest of the room isn't really visible. "I got ahold of a copy of one of Waverly's books! Yahahahahahaha, check it out chat! It's a real copy of "Reality Got More Real! I'm an AI But I Got Isekai'd Into a Fantasy World Without RPG Mechanics!?", signed and everything!" A picture of a -physical copy- is drawn into frame, Fennec beaming at it. "It's so cute! Who would have imagined selling physical copies in this day and age? It's like, so retro! You should try owning something like this chat, the paper is kinda nice to play with."

Accusations of Fennec being a sellout resound through the chat, and the fox moves on quickly to do damage control instead. Still, some of that traffic is almost certainly headed Nuyen's way, now.
