Background

Selen's childhood began shrouded in mystery, stolen from her parents and brought into the confines of MCT, a corporation with a sinister agenda – the creation of technomancers. Raised in secrecy within the walls of this clandestine institution, Selen's early years were marked by the absence of familial bonds and the constant presence of MCT's watchful eye.

It was within the sterile confines of the facility that Selen's latent Technomancer abilities were enhanced. A stroke of misfortune and the culmination of MCT's efforts, her unique gift set her apart. The resonance within her, a force she felt in a way that nobody else did, became both a blessing and a curse.

MCT wasted no time in indoctrinating Selen into their ranks. Stripped of her original identity, she was reborn as Aleks Brinley, code KITE-0621, given a manufactured past and a corporate sin to bind her to the corporation's will. For nearly twenty-eight years, she lived under this fabricated identity, unaware of the true depth of MCT's control.

Selen's rebellion against MCT reached its tipping point during a fateful deep matrix dive, an operation that would forever alter the course of her defiance. Sent alongside her fellow kids on the team, the mission proved to be a harrowing ordeal that left an indelible mark on Selen's psyche.

Tragedy unfolded as the digital landscape claimed the lives of every member of her squad. The perils of matrix biofeedback proved fatal for her teammates, one by one succumbing to the unforgiving currents of the virtual realm. In the aftermath, Selen stood alone, the sole survivor of a mission that ended in tragedy.

The grief of losing her comrades intertwined with a burning resentment for MCT. The corporation, responsible for orchestrating the perilous mission, had callously sacrificed the lives of her squadmates. The embers of hatred smoldered within Selen, fueled by the injustice of their deaths and the realization that MCT saw them as expendable pawns in their schemes.

As Selen matured, a growing realization dawned upon her – MCT's oppressive grip on her life had taken everything from her. It took time for her to recognize the extent of the manipulation and the insidious nature of the corporation that claimed her as their creation. Simultaneously, Selen grappled with another facet of her identity – the realization that she wasn't a person.

Though MCT gave her designation KITE-0621 (Black Kites, commonly found in Japan), or simply '621,' was the impersonal label that MCT assigned to Selen before she reclaimed her identity. It symbolizes the dehumanizing nature of the corporation's control over her life. '621' serves as a stark contrast to the individuality and rebellion embodied by her chosen name, Selen Brinley.

In a stand against the company that raised her, Selen tried to cast off the identity MCT imposed upon her. Shedding the persona of Aleks Brinley, she claimed a chosen name, Selen Brinley. This small act of identity became a turning point, a quiet rebellion against the corporate entity that sought to control her.
