Summary

Bingles hired to runners to go investigate an assumed paracritter threat that had disappeared some folks moving back in to explore a section of the jungles people didn't usually live in or go to often, to hunt for reagents. They didn't come back. The Plastic Jungles didn't have enough money to meet Bingle's fee so he sent the team in to investigate for a down payment and if they could handle it, eliminate the threat for more.

Background

A cryptid bro, either from Aztechnology or using Azzie gear he probably got at a stuffer shack set up a breeding ground for death spiral butterflies that turned into a death spiral for the residents of the plastic jungles.

The Meet

The team made their varied trips across town looking for dodges to sin scanners. the underground, and using solid fakes. Some Underground and Police Procedures: Street knowledge paid dividends to get the team near the water for the meet at a coffee house called Bean Brothers in Tacoma. Bingles introduced himself and the restaurant and Fixer were relatively comfortable with the diverse group and Black Dog's unique fashion sense. (a conversation that was relatively hilarious.) The team piled into Lady Argentum's Americar and followed Chance the long slow dumb way to Redmond that skips a lot of checkpoints and gets you to the Jungles safely, where they meet Frau Mei who explains more of the situation.

The Plan

Frau May escorted the team, casually sheparding them to the appropriate dome with a stick, explaining a little about the tribes of the Plastic Jungle and that they had sent folks to look for reagents and look for missing people and no one had come back, nor had bodies been found. The group realized this was weird behavior for a range of predators and went to look at the ambush zone.

The Run

Black Dog used Psychometry and had a vision of large flapping butterfly wings, proboscis, and a bunch of death. The gang were a little lost on what that could mean and called Jingles who had left them a commcode. He quickly told them what they were dealing with, and that they were acting well out of established behavior patterns. At this point, curious and assuming maybe they were biodrones or magically influenced, sent the team to investigate further.

A combination of tracking, following a drag trail, and matrix searching brought our runners to a gruesome sight. An RPC laying on its own, a pile of animal corpses with a few human corpses and caterpillars growing out of them. Several biodrone Death Spiral Butterflies loomed on along with a natural born one for breeding purposes, laying pupa in the pile of decaying animal and person bodies, with a rotodrone casually vacuum cleaning the pile of death to remove the catterpillars.

In the walk up, Chance placed a couple marks on the RPC and when the team arrived undetected laid garbage in/out to change assigned drone targets to the RCC into nearest targets on the network from targets off the network. When the RCC pulsed shortly therafter on an automated loop, the drones all started a dance of death with each other, spiraling faster and faster in the air as the Argentum, Thresher, and Black Dog quickly dispatched the swarm. Black Dog used his Psychometric talents again on the RCC to work out an idea of who the perpetrator was and how this plan was hatched.

Aftermath

Chance took a bricked RCC to Goober and a dead biodrone to Clint Wilder. A note left on the rotodrone that the "Cryptid farm was killing people" and the Plastic Jungles and Jingles making good on their word. The Jungles will handle (or not..) the caterpillar infestation in the corpses.
