Summary
The team is tasked with getting back someone's "Friend" who turns out to be his weak-forced ally spirit, as well as the bag that he stole from someone, that was stolen from him, and he wants it stolen back because that's his livelihood, stealing things. Can't have that, something being stolen from you.
Background
The Forked fangs are a go-gang, and tend to keep to their turf; yet when a lousy upstart tries to pull a fast one on them and lifts a bag from the forked fangs, they lash out and steal from the thief who'd dare steal from them, also thieves. Yet, the unsuspecting mage left his ally spirit in the bag, and spent the day bemoaning the loss of his possession spirit's body. Heading to his fixer to beg for an SOS, the individual scrapes the last of his liquid assets and hires runners to out thieves the thieves who outhieved this thief.
The Meet
The team meet the J crying behind a dumpster behind the Daze. Trying to patch him up, John ends up prying and trying to put the squeeze on the puny low time thief. Whipping him up into a furor, they say that he needs to steal stuff for THEM to help get 'EXP' and some extra nuyen. He agrees, and gives a picture of the bag and the general area of where the bag is, given he had a stealth tag with the bag that was lost.
The Plan
Head on to the tracker, scout the area, get the loot. Simple as.
The Run
Piling into Hammerhead's van, the team heads over the area following the stealth tag. Finding the building's street, they stealthily drive around to find the building. Seeing some signs of life of the derelict building, they head to sneak in on foot.
John tries to speak with the guy at the front door, but after finding him blabbering too much, decides to instead control his thoughts with a spells. Being now lead to the target area, the trio sends in to the underground to mess with the gang propper.
Newt, staying in the car, ends up seeing an approaching spirit and traps them in a mana barrier. The spirit tries to escape, but is unable to do so right away. Meanwhile, hammerhead, Newt's spirit, and John head in for tense negotiations with the gang leader. He finds their attitude balsy, and hears them out. yet, when the plea is to have their J's belongings returned, they laugh it off with a "We took what was ours by might!"
John proposes that they should give the bag back anyway, and seeing the pluck in John, the leader mentions that if they can best their guys in a fight, he would let them have it. So, the team enters into a fight with the goons.
The rounds of combat go steadily with shots, spells, punches and thwacks being given to and from both sides; notably a pre edged attack from John nearly geeks the two mages, and in retaliation a CFA nearly geeks john. A spirit is taken out by Newt and his spirit, while the mage takes himself out accidentally when trying to resummons. Calling the embarrassment of a fight off, the leader sees that his team was woefully unprepared, and hands over the loot. Yet, seeing the strength of the runners, offers employment to them in the future if they wish (Not as gang members, just as potential contacts).
Aftermath
Opening the bag, the team is shocked and pleasantly surprised to see that the 'bro' that was missing wasn't a man at all, but was a possession based ally spirit of a low force for the mage in question. Returning it to the J, the lantern seemed happy to be back, and the J was excited, and handed over some hood ornaments to the team, which were pawned off for extra nooj.
