Summary
The team is hired by an online J (secretly a Renraku exec) to retrieve a child who was believed to be joining the Halloweeners, with parents worried it's a relatively small time frame before something bad happens. The kid goes to a downtown high school, and was scouted by a couple low ranking 'weeners as a possible in to a small corporate building her father worked at. The runners were given commcodes and parental access to go retrieve the child before they ended up in trouble. They slow rolled downtown through the weakest checkpoint possible, and found a few halloweeners and a few high school kids on a dark street. A quick combination of illusions, mind control and hacking spooked he halloweenrs, sent the kid running into the arms of the runners and a quick and easy delivery.
Background
An overly sheltered Son- Tanji Takehiko has a fixation on 5th world horror movies and the Halloweeners promised him they had a stash of old horror films that members could access, and they would patch him in after giving him access to a corporate property. His dad found a 'Weeners jacket under his bed and called a fixer to put a team together for a quick under the table job.
The Meet
Psyche arrived with 5 stun due to a botched downtime binding, so it was good The meet was done online in a virtual only text space. The J clearly wanted as little contact as possible and was forthcoming with enough information to easily find the kids commlink when given commcodes and access to look it up via a deep matrix dive. Everything looked legit so the team took the job.
The Plan
The team would roll up to the relatively quiet downtown block where they tracked the commlink to, and drove casual into a parking space near the gang with Stryker hanging back loaded with stick and shock in classic van sam (and happy to be the backup plan, confirmed by all!) fashion.
The target would be mind controlled and illusions of the target staying in place as well as invisibility would keep the kid walking.
The Run
The team found the easiest (often Halloweener used) checkpoints into downtown and used fake sins to get through. It didn't take much to find the opposition on a dark street where a lot of the lights had already been shut down or broken. Striker pulled up nearby, the team scouted the kid in the group.
Clown disabled the halloweener muscle by hacking his commlink and blasting his cyberarms. John Galt thought controlled the targed into the car a few blocks down the street and told him to stand still and not speak. Psyche created a trid phantasm of the target standing in place over his location, and then cast invisibility on the target proper, leaving the illusion. The target the walked out as Psyche evolved the illusion into a dwarf runner he saw on a trid years before on the far side of the illusion's radius, who the team shot and took return fire from before everyone scattering as a KE drone enters the scene as part of the illusion."
The team cuff the kid and bug out, playing the Shadowrunner version of scared straight before dropping him off at the designated drop to the J.
Aftermath
A terrified child with nightmares about mind control, illusions, and fast driving motorcycle shadowrunners coming for them in the night returned home. The grateful father extending himself as a contact, a few spooked halloweers and an inert illusion on some cameras that the guards didn't bother to look up as the trace was wiped before they got out of the building to investigate.
