Summary

The Deep Lacuna is back open and UCLA is trying out teams of clandestine security to help their research teams. Vic got a call and put together a parcel of runners under a SH Contract.

Background

Five years ago the Aztlan/PCC/Horizon conflict in the Deep Lacuna lead to major explosions and two stable caverns becoming unstable. The PCC locked off the Lacuna in as many places as they could find entrances as this point to protect the local manashpere and prevent the incursions from going any further. This year The PCC opened the Lacuna back up to official research teams from UCLA and a few A corp interests for exploration.

The Meet

The meet with Vic was at Greyline in Bellevue where he explained the score and what they were headed to California to sign up for.

The meeting with the Client was at her office in UCLA. Alendra Hamilton is a no-nonsense 6 armed Nartaki with a golden skin tone and purple undertones in a business suit and Zoe. The team made a very good impression at the office meeting paperwork and job explanation, and then showed up in style on a Sea Sled and aced the swimming and diving portion. Warming the client up to the considerably. Enough that they got offered a small job on site as an additional paid try out component.

The Plan

The job was relatively simple. Follow a pylon down from the UCLA sea-wall and find some damage to the equipment, as well as what had damaged the equipment, and deal with it.

The team had prepped a wireless option to above the sea well before the job was offered so were all set there and got the proper equipment and sea sleds.

The Run

The team slowly and meticulously dove at Pylon 37 of the UCLA sea wall, finding a panel that had been ripped apart by overly strong shark teeth. Unsure of what shark could do it, Throwback and ZZ set in as over watch as Trades started to repair the damaged sensors and weld the panel shut.

It only took a few minutes of Trades welding at the panel for the problem to reveal itself. A dead shark with a relatively strong Shedim had created the damage to attempt and trap some underwater prey in the form of a dive team, and nearly did chase Throwback into the open ocean with a fear effect. Thankfully the crew stopped the repair long enough to brace themselves for the threat that continued to play cat and mouse with them in the deep low visibility water. A combination of Trades locking on and taking several aim actions, Throwback firing a gyrojet and ZZ taking a big risk to go astral and deliver a finishing blow to the evenascening spirit handled the threat. Trades them quickly finished the repairs and the team headed up to get paid.

Aftermath

The team was given kudos by their employer and the security captain for the Oceanic Studies division. The Haven now has a contract to work runners under with the UCLA oceanic studies.
