Summary

Runners deal with a very stupid J and successfully sneak through a Finnigans casino known as the Sinner's Paradise, stealing back the deed to his house and some extra paydata along the way.

Background

The Sinner's Paradise is one of the many Finnigan casinos in Seattle - actually won during a deal with the Ciarniellos and given to Flannagan Sharp, a noted physical adept of the Merlyns, his ritual name being Andromeda - a den of filth and avarice, and a trap for the stupid. Stupid people, like our J, a dwarfen real estate agent, who's "famous" gambit of putting the deed to his house as a bet early on to seem desperate failed, and the deed to his house ended up in the hands of the Finnigans. Then, runners got involved.

The Meet

Meeting the dwarfen J, they quickly realise he's a moron given his chosen location of an alleyway, and they get to business. They end up with half up front and figure out very little from the J, but they do learn he's even more of an idiot as the casino is 2 blocks away from the meet location.

The Plan

After some preliminary matrix searches, alongside vast amounts of legwork in the host and a little physical recon, a plan is developed -

  • Dex uses mind magic to get us a maglock key
  • Chance gets in host to control infrastructure - cameras
  • Sam and Dez infil during the 5-8 Sunday morning, Chameleon suit style.
  • Potential distraction can also come from the Dex prep plan
  • Narco the guard in the way
  • Distract the mage with eyes on target room
  • get into room, find deed, exfil

The Run

The plan changes a fair bit. They sneak in, Rogo's dog, Dez, and Samael, with Chance firmly in the host after going big and not going home. The first guard receives some popups, just enough of a distraction when combined with their invisibility and spiritual concealment to make even opening a door in front of the guard into Flannagan's office unseen. Luckily, given they went with the timing plan, Flannagan had to be in the main room as the normal main-room assenser - Kevin O'Kyle - was at sunday morning mass, thus they were able to move through the office unseen, and into the damp back hallways where no cameras could see. They moved past the first guard, who saw through the invisibiliy of Dez yet missed his physical stealth, before heading past and into the third hallway where the door to where the winnings were stored - chips inside of a Faraday cage. Another guard stood in front of this door, but he was easily dispatched by Samael with an injector pen filled with narcojet.

The first door was locked with a mundane bolt-lock which Samael could jimmy through, revealing a room with another door and papers containing the number of each chip associated with it's contents - confirming the house was just beyond in the chip room. However, he could hear someone on the other side - Shark O'Kyle, the decker - and creeped the door open to confirm his suspicions. He snuck in, and tried to repeat the same trick as before, yet Shark was able to withstand the drugs - Chance destroyed his cyberdeck and intercepted his attempt to get help with a squelch command before he could cause trouble, and Dez influenced him with mind magic to surrender, which was easier than it seemed. He was about to be bound and gagged, yet he requested the runners help him out of the Finnigans, which seemed sincere enough for them to consider helping, giving him contacts and a warded safe-house so he could manage to escape a wanted man of the Finnigans. Then, they got back the deed and secured a fair bit of other expensive chips they could pawn off, and head back out as quiet as ghosts.

Aftermath

A smooth job, they return the deed to the J after making sure to move to a more secure location, and then go through with the plan to mostly secure Shark O'Kyle away from the Finnigans.
