Summary

Me is a Face who specialises in Con and using toxins to carry out assassinations, close quarters combat or simply knocking out enemies.

Goals

To live a (relatively) normal and peaceful life despite having Insectoid Features.

Background

Anneli's life was simple. Ever since she was born, she only knew the woods of the Finnish wilderness in which she lived, and which she had formed a bond with. She lived with her family in a house far away from any city, though her parents still had jobs and regularly went to the nearest city to buy supplies. Although storms and strong winds weren't unusual in the area, a storm like no other started shaking up the land. Anneli, who was still wandering through the woods, took shelter in a nearby cave as it was too dangerous to try and rush back home.

The storm was over before she realised, however, she felt something within herself had changed. Her hands traced over her own face, but it didn't feel like her own; mandibles had grown by the sides of her mouth, along other features that resembled that of an insect. Her limbs were partially covered in a thin layer of chitin, turning them completely black and smooth. The mana storm hadn't completely turned her into a bug, but just enough for her to be shunned by the world.

Despite her mind still trying to process all this, she instinctively started wandering back home-- her parents must've been there when the storm started. But all she found when she got there was the ruins of her home; her hands were shaking, she didn't dare to look through the rubble, fearing what she might find. In a single day, her humanity and her home were swiftly taken away. She had no option but to learn how to live this new life by herself, in a world that would discriminate against her.

And so for the next 7 years, she travelled and learnt how to manipulate, persuade and lie her way through anything. Despite the challenges that come with half looking like a bug, the charismatic personality she had built over the years could make almost anyone ignore the pointy fangs extruding from the sides of her mouth, and thanks to this she managed to learn about shadowrunners, and more specifically about how to get in contact with a certain Fixer. And thus, she decided that the best way to continue honing her abilities would be to start working as a Runner. And who could complain if she made some money while at it?

Narrative Significant Qualities

Changeling (SURGE II), Fangs, Natural Venom, Poisoner: After being SURGE'd, she gained the ability to inject poison through her new fangs.

Alibi, Too Pretty To Hit, First Impression: Years of practice have given her to lie and persuade as if it were second nature.

Negative

Cold-Blooded, Insectoid Features, Slow Healer: As useful as her fangs are, this SURGE didn't come without it's disadvantages.

Uncommon Mild Phobia (Spectrophobia): She can no longer look at herself in the mirror, as what stares back isn't her anymore.

Reduced Sense (Taste): Through the repeated use of her natural venom, she has partially lost her sense of taste.

Elevated Stress: The hatred towards people resembling the insect spirits has taken it's toll on her.

Allergy (Common, Mild: Pollen): Be it a cruel joke from fate or something else, despite her condition, she has a mild allergy to Pollen.

Appearance

Anneli is a short elf, even by Dryad standards. She has piercing hazel eyes, and a dark shade of brown hair. Her skin is quite pale in contrast to her black chitin limbs. A pair of mandibles sit at the ends of her unnaturally split mouth (I don't know how to properly describe this but it's how characters like Juniper are sometimes drawn, where the mouth line goes beyond the lips and it can open extremely wide: https://imgur.com/a/5A8C45X). She has large fangs from which she can inject toxins, and a long, snake-like tongue.

Clothing

She wears a classy Berwick Dress. If things get ugly, she puts on an Armoured Jacket alongside a Helmet and a Ballistic Mask.
