Summary

Adowa "Moria" Webster has a question for Mister Bookbinder in the Library of Alexandria on the metaplane of Man. She's paid for an answer and hires Coil and Hakim al-Ghayb to deliver a sealed scroll in a leather case. Both are force 1 task spirits. After negotiations, the runners accept a payment of 17,000 nuyen with 2,000 nuyen paid in advance. Furthermore, Moira arranges for a 50% discount for arcane gear purchased through a talismonger in France. After suitable ritual preparations they project into the astral to encounter the Dweller on the Threshold. The Dweller challenges their motivations for metaplanar travel. The runners admit to having a mix of both personal and altruistic motives and are passed through to the Library.

The runners see two trios of entities leaving the building complex - three reptilian entities to the east, and a dwarf and 2 djinn to the west. The dwarf is physically present which draws their attention. One djinn leaves as they begin to approach. As they get within conversational range four djinn appear and start to attack the dwarf and his ally spirit. The runners intervene and after one djinn is disrupted and another banished back to Ginnistan, the remaining djinn retreat. The dwarven astralnaut introduces himself as Robert Wilson a Seattle magician with significant street cred. He explains that he's involved in intertribal politics amongst the djinn and a powerful djinn was expressing displeasure. After thanking the team they part ways.

The team asks a guidance spirit for directions to Mister Bookbinder and they are taken to the reference library. They deliver the scroll and case. Coil wants to ask a simple question and Mister Bookbinder offers to answer a question in return for the completion of a task: record the names of all the remains in the catacombs of Alaexandria (the catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa). The runners finish their task quickly and safely via an extended range clairvoyance spell. Upon their return to Mister Bookbinder Coil asks his question: can you direct me to a suitable guide for future journeys to these worlds. After a brief divination, Mister Bookbinder sends the team to lecture hall XVII where they encounter scholars and an avatar spirit of Prometheus. After Coil establishes a mentor/mentee relationship with the avatar, the team returns to Seattle and their bodies.

Background

Moira Webster's question concerned Mister Wickwind of Jinglur. She wants to know what information would entice him to take a meeting. She would like to establish a relationship in order to gain access to his various social contacts across the metaplane.

The Meet

Coil drew upon specialized knowledge in magical theory and astral topography to gauge the general hazards involved in accessing the metaplane of man and hazards related to accessing the library of Alexandria in particular. Coil then checked metaplaner rumors - any word on the street around a this Mr. Bookbinder at the library ? Hakim engaged in similar mental preparation drawing upon his knowledge of spirits and magical threats

Upon reaching Cherry's Shakes for the meet the runners engaged in mutual assensing of auras and established a dni connection. The Plan
