Cherry's Shakes is a milkshake bar with a shooting range and entertainment / simulation / practice facility in its vast basement. The owner, Cherry is a charismatic human with strong organizational and matrix entertainment skills. Distinctive Features
Location:
Cherry's Shakes is Beverly Park, Everett, just off of the exit of Highway 5. Exit "Beverly Park"
Layout:
Ground Floor:
The Milkshake Bar:
Cherry's Shakes is a vintage-style milkshake bar with some extras such as burgers, drive-through and drive-in with roller skate service.
A great place to take the family for a nostalgic dinner, your date for a shake, or go on your own to relax and enjoy the flair.
The owner Cherry prides herself in that the motto of her restaurant; "No matter how you feel, you always leave happier" is recognized as universal truth amongst the regulars.
The Drive Through:
The drive through offers personal service with real people taking orders and handing out the orders. Visitors do not need to communicate through microphones or drones.
Parking Lot:
The parking lot offers the service to order from your car and get the shakes & food delivered to your car by the friendly roller-skating waiters. Here, you can watch a 1950's movie on the big screen at the end of the parking lot. Subscribe to Cherry's Shakes on your com-link to get access to the audio of the movie playing now.
The Basement
The minimum age to enter the basement is 18, except for Sunday mornings and some special events.
The basement can be described as a very sophisticated, popular amongst runners and wannabes because it offers a safe environment to simulate real action. It offers an opportunity to try new tactics, test weapons one cannot afford in real life, or slide into a different persona (which mundane hasn't wondered how it feels like to be able to conjure a spirit or be Biggie Beefcake for one afternoon?
There are two distinct areas in the basement:
"Area 1"
is a real-life shooting range, tactical laser-tag arena and cart-track. Ever tried to throw a grenade, grill a steak with a flame-thrower, or drive a cart jumped in? This is a safe environment to test all those things. You can also try that sniper rifle you've been dreaming of and promised to gift yourself next Christmas if you manage to stay off those darn substances until then.
"Area 2"
offers an oasis of trid-, BTL, VR- and AR- games. This is where a mundie can jump into the character of a wizard to feel how it feels to conjure a spirit and have that spirit fight against another spirit their friend just conjured (or against virtually any thing else). Or, how about a mage jumping into the character of a decker and to experience that some deckers may in fact not be sleeping on the job when they claim to be running the matrix - the opportunity get a grasp of some of the basics and concepts in the matrix to finally understand at least one or two words the deckers spit out when they come back and describe the ordeals they had, hacking that security server.
Matrix Presence
Cherry's Shakes in the matrix is a 1:1 copy of the real life location with the following exceptions:
- No weapon or gear with a rating of higher than 12 can be accessed virtually.
- The experience on the matrix is not as real-life as the simulations in the basement. This is part of an agreement with authorities to control access to such high rating training and simulation gear.
IC Information
Notable Associated Characters
Biggie Beefcake
Sizzles likes to go to the basement and test virtual versions of various "resolver" modifications to electronics. He's already earned the reputation of a helpful guy who gladly helps matrix noobs get rolling - real "grad student in the circuits lounge" energy.
Thunder sometimes works as a bouncer and has offered some free advice around archery in basement where he is often seen practicing himself.
Matrix Search Table

---|---|
1 | This is a great place for birthday parties, bachelor parties. Great shakes and burgers in the bar and extreme fun in the basement. The AR Version of the place invites you to try a spoon of shake from the ground floor or test drive a go-cart in the basement for 15 seconds in exchange for opting in on the mailing-list and sharing your personal information with the server. This weeks cupon is: "get a cheese cake desert for free when you buy two shakes and two burgers" |
3 | The physical and magical security on the ground floor is average but the friends and fans of the place are powerful and strong, so don't be stupid. The matrix security is extremely high. There are rumors of VIP rooms with alien-tech facilities in the basement. The weekly specials often include: Buy two X and get 1Y free. If you ask, you will get 2Y free. Kids get 2Y free without asking. The "get 1" free is Cherry's idea to get lovebirds to share a desert, shake or whatever and to encourage a romantic moment. |
6 | The basement has Fort Knox security level in all aspects. There isn't any alien tech in the facilities. Just really high grade earthling tech. For any VIP Level one earns, there seems to be one more that one could achieve with some more efforts and spendings. Pretty clever marketing trick to keep people who always need to be on top trying to outscore each other while preventing them from attaining the final goal of achieving the highest status and wander off to the next challenge. Cherry's connections to both entertainment industry, big corps and the underworld, plus an inheritance fund of seemingly unlimited dimensions have made this "playground" possible. |

1 | Good place to go with the family |
3 | Great place to go if you want to practice shooting or strategic operations |
5 | This facility is a serious training facility. It'd definitely be shut down by the authorities for fear of para-militaries gaining access to such high class training ground if it wasn't for Cherry's good connections to politics and decent control of keeping the real freaks away. |
